Opinions Wanted on an Artistic Decision

I'm just looking to find out what people think on this.
Recently, I posted a look at a panel from a future page of The Corps here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2615521/
When I first designed the armour for the series (here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/993048/ ), I made the visor just solid red, which looked fine in a single pic. However, when it came to draw these visors on characters in an actual comic, I encountered the problem that with the eyes covered up, it makes it a lot harder to depict expressions. Since that's not really a strong point of mine anyway, I needed to figure out what to do.
Dropping the visor altogether wasn't an option. It's not there just to look good, I've envisaged it as a piece of equipment for the troopers, sort of high-tech binoculars, with various built in scanners and offering the wearer various enhanced vision modes (such as night vision).
After some consideration of the various options, I settled on a compromise, as you can see in the preview panel. The idea was to simply hint at the eyes, hopefully giving the impression of the visors being sort of semi-transparent.
I thought this was a good, simple and effective solution that fitted in well with my art style. I've even used it throughout the upcoming Furry Guardians #6, for a character who wears goggles.
I'm a little curious what others think of it though. Does it work for you? Or is it too simplistic?

Just a thought.
Take a look how they draw shades in the Alien Legion comics I sent you or do a search on Sunglasses or shades on here, heres a good one = http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1990113/ sometimes just a zig of white for some simple shine does it, or highlight/lowlight dept on the perspective but the plain red looks too simple yeah [Also how do they stay on there faces, theres no arms or straps]
One thing I never quite grasped about Corps, is how come the German Shepard guy knows hes been conditioned ? surely that would have been wiped from his mind ?
