H'lo. Well, my 11th (and maybe my last) Furbowl went over well. We didn;t have as many attendees, but those that did come, well, you were all from very close by. I had a BALL at the IHOP rrestaraunt afterwards. I gotts to say I missed many of my old friends. I guess y'all have better things to do. I know who ya are, and yes, its cool you've moved on.
I did have a lot of fun. Maybe I'll do some more. but.. I just caint place my paw on it,
something is gone. maybe our 'tradish' or 'old school' approach to our core, our artwork method or even our love to the old cartoons, flix or our media approach : it has become quickly obsolete. I dunno. No one does paper drawings anymore, no one does posts to a semi permanent web gallery like FA or DA. It is all on insta or tele gram, which streams away quickly via 'gimme' messages and poorly done sticker art before an admirer can see an artist's intended value. All gone, within 4 posts off screen, all on your little 10cm tall screens. A shame. Art should be seen in at least 1 time from the artists view "Walk a Mile in My Shoes" and the teeny port that a 10 cm screem is a cramped viewpoint to work from. To you damned milennials who confine your little tiny tether to existance to the 10cm screen apple or android - DAMN YOU! You have NO appreciacion to the WONDERFUL world that is beyond your electronic toys. I would CONDEMN you to the empty life you will deserve,
except that you might consider to turn away from the 10cm screen, and look your favorite artist in their eye, and tell them you truly admire their efforts.
I know I am way off base in this journal. But I just love the art that I see, and I see the way it is quickly bypassed or discarded on this new type of social media. mark My Words... from a ragged, stinking OLD coyote. This "social Media" is YOUR DEATH

i do watch pinterest and artstation,
you may be right. i wouldn't really know about those places.
i think a lot of what has happened, is that furry started out, or at least when i furst discovered it on line,
it was more about imagination and less about everyone trying to make a living doing it.
before social media, the net was still kind of a nerdgasm, which is where i always want to be,
the odd little corner niche. pretty hard for anything to be more mainstream then what a lot of furry has become.
a lot of what is, dissapointing about mainstream has diluted furry, just as it had sciffy, before furry spun off its own world from it.
that's what i see, just the diluting effect of that results from becoming too popular.
you have people coming in looking for the very misrepresentations every niche has to endure.
and since the state of the state is the statistical sum of its citizen's perspectives, that's what happens,
especially the more it becomes about trying to make a buck off of it.
For me, it's merely to take a break from the workload in front of me, since I don't step outside to smoke anymore.
My personal theory is that when things are too "easy" they are rarely appreciated and usually quickly forgotten. I don't typically do easy things, and I prefer to be around people who are the same way. There don't seem to be a lot of us anymore...
Data seem to indicate that interest in the latest fart-phones is waning. I'm hoping that trend continues. It seems it could only be to our benefit.
I have recently discovered the joy of pork steak, having gout is really getting annoying... But I find this with some decent seasonings and Worcestershire sauce makes an acceptable substitute for beef. Have you ever tried grilling it? I'll have to research marinading it. Might be something to do on the drive down... =^^=
The only thing is, that you must be able to tolerate the disorder of my home.
