I dunno ... this is kind of difficult to gauge from an outside perpective. I personally think that the only time it would be absolutely critical to create separate FA accounts, is if you are a professional who works largely outside of the anthro art medium. Maybe you don't necessarily want one set of clientele to easily discover or link "certain things". Other than that, maybe doing it just for the sake of your own brand of organizing might be a good enough reason.

Good feedback and nice comment — I think my question fits into this category. Half of my gallery is serious, and half is smut, and the two worlds do not overlap at all. Different characters, and completely different trajectories.

On top of that, yes, I am also a professional who creates illustrations outside of furry quite extensively.

Generally more trouble than it's worth. When people split accounts one usually ends up either abandoned or hardly ever gets any posts. That being said, I did split accounts a few years ago, because I was told it wasn't a good idea to have some of the weirder commission stuff on my main account. And, of course, that account rarely gets updated any more.

Thanks, Roz! That's what I wonder, yeah. I mean, I think everyone has multiple accounts — even keeping up with the same fursona across FurAffinity, Weasyl, DA, etc is a huge chore. But adding different handles/fursonas to that mix will be a nightmare. Aside from the pain of having to actually keep up with them, I wonder if the average fan/follower even cares that your gallery is mixed in the first place. I think you have an added layer of complication in that you're using a name as your handle and not an alias.

I do like to be able to filter content in my inbox, so separating things would be useful to me. It's not something I often ask for, because I know how much work parallel accounts can be. If you're considering it though, I'd say that I support it.

Thanks, Bucephalus! This is exactly what I was wondering — do followers care? I assume that people follow someone because of a specific skill, technique, or subject matter, so when a gallery is all over the place, does that help or hurt? I have a very serious side (personal work) and a very random side (commissions) which make my gallery look schizophrenic. I assume you followed me for one kind of art — does it bother you when the thing you liked originally only pops up every once in a while? ... Or is there enough diversity in FA as a whole that what I produce doesn't really mean anything one way or the other?

I couldn't name a person where that happens and it bothers me, but almost everyone does that to some degree or other. So with me watching hundreds of people, the stuff I'm not really looking for accumulates in my inbox. To the point that sorting through it becomes a chore instead of an adventure. The big thing that gets to me is that FA lacks tag blocking. So I can't screen out things that I REALLY don't want to see. As such, it's only content creators that can truly filter or sort their output. So I appreciate it when someone makes the effort.

Thanks again! I think I'm leaning more and more toward separating my personal works out. I think I always have. The truth is, my confidence is total crap and I was hiding behind what momentum I have now with this account as a way to 'drum up interest' in my 'real work', but it's not working on a number of levels.

It can be really tough to cold-start something like that yeah. Getting popular requires as much, if not more marketing than it does creative skill. Leveraging the popularity of your commissions isn't a bad strategy by any means, but if you've demonstrated that there's not a lot of results then, well, there ya go. I'm sure having a recognizable and popular online presence will be of immeasurable value to you someday, but like all people, I've no way of discerning when "someday" will be.

It's your call, but my experience with those I watch is that few keep separate accounts for long. Most find it too difficult to maintain both and eventually go back to posting to one account (officially or not).

Furthermore, I have no complaint with the range of your work. I like the Foxcat across all media.

On the other hand, I believe I could make it work because my gallery has two very different halves; specifically, my serious personal work and my adult-centric commission work. The two halves share virtually nothing in common. Granted, I am guessing that if I were to place my personal work into a separate gallery, it would be a cold, dead place no one visits but me, lol! ... *sighs*

Multiple accounts are truly just annoying. I find when watching if there is more than one account I'll only watch the one with content I like or prefer. It's your call though, just giving my opinion.

Thanks, Dark-Bloodfang! Your opinion is awesome and well-received, thank you! I think you also answer the unasked question, "would anyone follow a second account." I have to believe that virtually everyone following my work does so for the adult stuff, (since no one comments on the serious stuff at all), and I wonder if a large part of that is simply (obviously) that I'm speaking to the wrong audience? I imagine it's a little like a porn star trying to produce a Broadway play — would anyone from either audience take that play seriously?

I would have to say from experience on here, most artists that do the adult stuff are more payed attention too than those who do cute or tame art. So yeah when it comes to the demographic if adult art be the attraction for a artist yeah pretty well that's the ones you're most attracting. Those looking for cute and clean might like you're work but probably not going to hang around with the adult art.

The biggest problem though when you start the process of going another way you may wind up loosing what whatchers you do have sadly. I have unfortunately seen this many times before from other artists who went from adult to tame/cute. I do not see a way around it if you decide on another route for your art, then again maybe some of those will decide they want to stay for something.

I do hope I have been encouraging or helpful here.
