That depends how you want to define furry. Technically the furries of today are actually pretty new, having started in the 1980's/1990's. Because while the Egyptians had anthropomorphic, it wasn't nearly anywhere close to the way we look at anthropomorphic animals now. And if you look through history, there aren't really that many cultures with anthropomorphic animals and it certainly wasn't able to happen on the global scale it is today.

I used to consider the Egyptians as sort of the first furries, but after some discussion with multiple people who have analyzed this, I have come to think that the cultural differences are too great to consider ancient religions the same thing as being a furry.

The first thing I think of is the Chinese hermit Zuo Ci, from the 3rd century, who transformed into a goat and hid in a herd of them when running from the law. He made the other goats and himself stand on two legs and talk to scare away his pursuers when they came to the field, but that was a legend.

The oldest furry I can think of would be the anonymous sculptor of the Lowenmensch, or the Lion Man, an ivory figurine of a lion with a human-like body. It was discovered in the Hohlenstein Stadel in Swabian Jura, Germany, and dates back to 30,000 BC.
