I hate to post this kind of stuff publicly. Although I will say here lately I have been getting harassed and publicly bullied by a couple members here in the herp society. They won't come up front to me regarding the issue and frankly, it is sad that some of the local Herping/ reptile members gang up and bully members. Even members that are still newbies in the reptile hobby. At times, it almost dentures me to not be apart of the reptile community. Frankly almost makes me want to leave the facebook community altogether and not come back. Because I cannot take it anymore. It just stresses me out. I get there have been people that have been in the reptile biz longer than I have. But no need to just gang up and belittle me for some reason. We all learn from mistakes, we all start somewhere. Although I will say. It's no reason to push members so far to the edge where they are just beginning. That they almost want to jump off the cliff of social media. There is plenty I want to just leave and never come back because of it. Or there is also plenty of times I feel like I am just a ghost. Nobody cares and I better off being non-existent or even dead. Nobody cares that Amber has feelings or emotions. Nobody cares that I am human. I feel just the same way a snake would if they desired to just take an ax to it.
Is nobody in it for the fun anymore? Or just the circlejerk?
I'm not in it at the moment, but when I do get back into it I'm not going to get sucked into their drama. I also see this sort of thing happening in other animal circles (dogs are one of the worst that come to mind, but also horses and definitely cats) so I think it's unfortunately just people being people..
I feel like the best solution is to laugh in their face. Loudly, and over what they're saying. It makes them angry and if they're not going to act like a rational adult, neither should you - and you get some fun out of it =)
But in alls seriousness, just ignore them. They're not worth the time it takes to respond or acknowledge them. You learn as you go along, mistakes get made, then you learn from it. That goes for anything. People who ridicule other people for learning from their mistakes are a) conceited af, and b) obviously don't have much going on in their life so you should almost pity them.
Don't quit snakes if you love them! Just stay off social media circles (or at least the ones who have a clique culture going on). You'll be way more productive / learn more and be less inclined to listen to sad old whingers :)
