That is awesome! I have a few things that are old but I don’t know if I would call them antiques and some of it is my mom’s which I claim as mine.

I collect inflatable pooltoys since they would always outlast the cheap inflatable pools that our family would get and I just recently made my own and would love to make more that people could buy.

I am sure there is a market for this... especially custom ones.

Books. I have an amazing collection of National Geographic magazines that are a great reference for some of my stories.

I am not (unfortunately) much of a book scout. I do know a little about almost any kind of antique, I have not delved into books much. I do have an odd book, The Dog, which dates to about 1854. I got it in a bulk trade. I found it interesting for the LACK of breeds at the time.

Mostly old radios (with vacuum tubes), older test equipment and tools.
Apparently there's a large number of plush rabbits as well.

I collect Schleich, Papo, Safari, Bullyland and other models of the same kind of ilk, that and plushies. Lots of plushies, but especially ones that look a bit different or broken. :) I used to collect Biker Mice toys and will still get the odd TLK bug in me and buy lots of Lion King things.

Resources. Not glamorous or cool but what I can do with it makes it cool for me.

I have some "resources" as you put it. Now that I know you, I can keep an eye out for cool stuff to carve.

Resources are the best. Especially the ones you can carve.

I collect wolf stuff, gems and minerals, dragon stuff, glass bottles, old keys and locks, shot glasses, salt and pepper shakers, and recently Pop! Vinyls.

I don't do dragons, locks, and Pop! Vinyls, but I do lots with the other stuff. Bottles are one of my specialties that I have done my whole life. I also have a small collection of snap case salts, sometimes known as "broken tops".

I got a few bottles from my great grandma before she passed. I might have you look at them sometime :) They are pretty.

Bottles are one of my specialties. If/when you take pictures, put something in there for scale, like a coin or a dollar bill. Be sure to take a picture of the mold seams on the neck if they have any as that is a key indicator of age. If the mold line goes all the way to the top, it was made after 1910 when the automatic bottle machines became prevalent. Take a photo of the bottom, too. I can see the pontil mark if it has one or sometimes the maker's marks. Some wine bottles are spun in the mold so they have no seams like free-blown bottles like the one in my gallery. If the bottle has an embossed (raised design or test in the glass) part, be sure to light it in such a manner as to make the writing/design legible to me.

Quick history of bottles. Pontil scar on the bottom was caused by the free-blown manufacturing process and shows up until about 1867. Three mold bottles were used up until about 1887 and there is a seam line that runs up the side towards the top, but another line that runs around the shoulder of the bottle. The vertical seam smudges out on the neck of the bottle because the bottle lips were hand-formed separately. Usually, the farther up the neck the seam line goes before it smudges out, the closer to 1910 the bottle was made.

This is a very crude outline of how to date bottles. Normally I would talk for an hour or type several pages on the subject.

One of my favorite things to collect are pressed pennies, i love to look back at them every now and then cause they remind me of the time i got them, just a a month ago i went to Pennsylvania and when i was leaving there was a pressed penny machine, i got the set that was there and now everytime i look back on them i remember the time spent with my friend
And the ones i got from roswell new mexico, went to a alien museum with my dad, everytime i look at those pennies i remember back when me and my late father were connected

Pressed pennies are cool. I do run across them from time to time. I think the Memphis Zoo has one of those machines as well.

I tend to collect, odd shot glasses and from places i have been, old liquor bottles, Green Bay Packer items, video game systems and games, dice, playing cards, trains (milw road), and plastic model kits.

I have a few old game systems and lots of dice for RP games. Plastic model kits I find from time to time. I have three Hubley metal car kits from the early 70s that have never been taken off their sprues. Oh yes... I forgot. I'm an ancient war gamer nut, too. I don't have too many of my old games left, though. I used to know most of the game designers personally in the late 80s.

I just started to collect RP dice about a year ago and I am already starting to out grow my original dice bag. And nice I like to find either the old monogram plane kits or the remakes with the collector patches from when plastic models had a lot of moving parts and actions. That is very cool that you knew so many game designers back in the day of open making.

Gary Gygax and I knew each other as I used to have a really big hobby shop in the mid-80s until Sears got into the mix and crashed the hobby shop market. My hobby shop literally looked like the inside of a cave as it was made from part of a geodesic dome. The guys from Yaquinto Games would always pass through to see "the cave", and the guy who runs Great White Games... the people who do Savage Worlds, used to come to my shop as a younger teen. Later, when I talked to him, he thanked me for talking to him as an equal and treating him well. He said most gamers talked down to him. I also know Lou Zocchi from Biloxi, Mississippi who designed many of the dice you probably use now. We used to have epic miniatures battles and D&D tournaments.

That is pretty damn cool Keefur. And aye it is funny how you never really know who you will cross paths with and that a bit of respect can go a long way with people. And aye probably somewhere in my bag of dice is some. A few friends of mine have started D&D a year ago and are finally gelling and starting to learn our characters and finding new ways to beat our DM's beast.

I remember when the dice first came out. They weren't high impact and turned into marbles after a few days of use. You also had to use wax crayons to "ink" the numbers on the dice.

Antique military firearms, East German militaria, Polish militaria, Survival/camp tools and knives. Kerosene lamps and Coleman gas lamps.

I have a local fur that usually snaps up my coleman lamps, but I will keep you in mind. I have printed lots of military items for WWII reenactors, but don't mess too much specifically with militaria. I do have an American field commander sword that I figure is from the late 1800s.

I collect old vacuum tube radios, mostly the floor models. Somehow a number of raccoon and cartoon related plushies have come to reside in my home as well

I do run across those from time to time, but I don't know how to test them.

I've only got about 4 that are working at the moment, also 2 jukeboxes. Parts are getting rare and expensive these days, some of the radios are nearly 100 years old, still fun to look at and play with.

For postcards, it's mostly foreign postcards x3 and for books it's mostly language books, grammar books, etc

Oh golly, quite a few things~ I try to be mindful of not having too many things so keep what I would like to collect specific and with a purpose in mind ( my rule is if I can use it I can have it! ). I hope to collect certain Mosser Eyewinker glass pieces but really love glass in general ( blue opalescent, light blue carnival glass, and milk glass are my favorites~ So glad you like glass too! ) + a few specific Fenton pieces. Small brass bells are a big favorite~ Old wood and wicker office supplies; I recently bought a few in/out boxes and a wicker desk organizer to help me organize my work space, I love them! <3 Small ceramic or porcelain sheep and deer figurines are a weakness as their only purpose is that I love looking at them; I put them in my curio cabinet! I found this wonderful cast iron sheep bank years ago which I love~<3 I keep him on my nightstand for odd change I find!

We shall have to talk more in the future about glass. I have a lot of Fenton and with I had som Mosser. I think the rarest piece of carnival I have is an inverted Fan and Feather tumbler. It isn't a repro, though there are a lot of them out there. I have had it next to an original non carnival piece and it is the proper height. Fake ones are shorter. I will keep an eye out for the other stuff on your list.

Oh, we should! While it's an interest of mine I admit I don't know as much as I would like to~ I love the iridescence of carnival glass and keep an eye out for it while at thrift stores and antique malls ( even if it's just to admire it ). I'm certain I don't have any originals, pretty sure all my current pieces are reproductions, but I love the patterns/colors and putting them to use! <3 I visited the Corning Museum of Glass in New York when I was in Junior High and have loved glass ever since~ Oh! Apparently my Mom hadn't kept all the silver together in sets as the silver I received a few years back was very mixed~ Some is definitely plated and some others I'm not sure, one is a Tiffany teapot tipper ( not sure if that's the right name for it ) so hope to find the teapot~ She says when I visit next we can find the rest together in the storage unit ( a treasure hunt <3 ). She calls the silver my "early dowry"~ Very excited to see what we find!

Carnival glass was named that because after the great depression hit, the glass houses that made this popular iridescent glass suddenly couldn't sell it because no one had spare money. They ended up selling it to carnivals for pennies on the dollars to give away for prizes. It was made by spraying the glass with a solution of organic salts while still in the kilns. You probably do have some original stuff as there are some common pieces to be found. There were a lot of reproductions made in the 50s through the 70s, but if you get a practiced eye, you can spot these pretty quickly. I visited the Corning museum of glass way back in 1970 when I was up in Rochester, NY for a summer. The silver isn't all that hard to figure out if it is silver or not. If it is silver, it will have hallmarks or manufacturers names with sometimes the name "sterling" followed with a .925. There are other kinds of silver like coin silver which can vary in purity, but is probably at least 90%, and there can be other indicators of purity such as .800 which is less common than sterling, but not that uncommon. Your teapot tipper, I would have to see to tell you what it is. Other things that can mimic silver are marked in different ways, like EPNS which stands for electro plated nickel silver, things like quadruple plate, and German silver are not silver. If you look on the backs of the spoons, sometimes on really old items, you can notice that the bowl of the spoon is attached separately to the handle by different shaped appendages from the handle. One is shaped like a flag waving from a stem, and another is like a long thin tapering line, sometimes called a "rat tail".

Currently, I collect postcards which I pick up during my travels, or if any strange ones capture my interest. I also enjoy mailing them out to friends in order to get their reactions to the interesting and odd pictures I find. There was a short time there I was making and sending postcards with my own artwork on them, but right now my printer is acting up. (I think the drivers need to be updated.)

I used to collect model kits and build them on occasion, but I had to "Liquidate" my collections in order to pay the bills. Same with my Action Figures. I collected mainly Anthropomorphic Animal figures. Toy Robots too. I also had quite a number of die cast metal cars, Hot Wheels, Bulldozers and forklifts. One of my favorites was the Transformers "Rampage" as it was not only a cool looking Decepticon robot, but it could be transformed into a rather believable looking bulldozer.

I collect some things forrest animals wolves deer and others but I have to be careful on how much I get so I try to only get things that really catch my eye. Space is something I don't have yet but when I do I will be on the hunt for awesome art work to add to my walls.

I collect dinosaur toys, mostly. Got a bunch of nice Safari Ltd. pieces, some of the old Kenner Jurassic Park toys, and a whole lot of Mattel's new Jurassic World toys. Mattel's doing an awesome job with those. In fact, my dinosaur collection has more than doubled in the past year and it's all Mattel's fault. XD It's a good year to be a dino collector!

Also plushies. My mate makes a point to get me a species of plush I don't own yet for Christmas each year. Last year he gave me a gnoll(Hogger from World of Warcraft).

I agree completely! Especially pachyderm and lagomorph skulls! Like, rabbit skulls resemble horse skulls more than I ever imagined! But then I learned both are about the only animals with a cecum as part of their digestive tract. Animals are truly amazing to learn about!

I'm on the antique Firearm train. I love military rifles specifically, especially WWII era stuff. It really is amazing to see just how many vast improvements are made on shoulder fired weapons in general when large scale wars break out. Much of the technology and ideology that came about just after that war is still very significant even now.

This is something I don't delve into much. This isn't because I hate guns. I used to hunt. It just isn't something that you run across at sales and such. I will keep you in mind should I need you as a resource or if I find something really interesting that I think you might want. As I have said before... I know a little about everything, but guns aren't a specialty for me.

I have a few things you might like to see. A Stan Musial baseball, and an anthro plushie baseball from the fifties or sixties with the hang tags.

I do have an odd piece of rock. It came from a meteorite fall about 340 million years ago. It is fingerlings of hematite with centers that have millerite crystals. Apparently the meteorite exploded, making about a 10 mile crater. The plasma cloud condensed into air bombs over the nickel cores as best as I can tell.

The lead scientist there didn't want to talk to us because he wanted all the credit. My friend's farm was ground zero for the strike and he knew where the good rocks were. The rocks were hollow fingerlings of hematite and there would be clusters of them, all oriented to one concentric point at the front of the rock. When cut open, there would invariably be a Millerite crystal embedded there in the hematite. Since Millerite is a thin, wispy, kind of pom- pon shaped crystal, the slice would reveal dots and sometimes lines of the nickel. We did test it and it was nickel. I have one piece of it somewhere in the house but God help me to find it right now. We also found a shatter cone and altered quartz. My friend even went as far as hiring someone to do a magnetic scan, and upon finding a huge anomaly, hired a well drilling crew to see what it was. It turned out to be a decomposed mass of nickel bearing clay like substance without any actual metallic nickel left. The area is also bereft of any volcanic activity ever which would mean that the presence of nickel would have had to be extraterrestrial.

Heh well... used ta collect comicbooks as a pup... still got several boxes full of'em... guess now I collect wolf/werewolf type things decor, figures an such... I probably got a few old items, not sure if they're classed as antiques yet but quite old... like my small corner curio cabinet... it has 2 mirrored glass sides in the inside flat sides, 3 glass shelves and the front in mostly glass with just a wooden frame. The front sides of the shelves as well as the glass cover are all cut /made in a circular curve and are all it's original glasswork and the front door is also circular cut... might take a few shots an have it appraised :)

I am not sure about the age of your cabinet. Stuff from the 50s and 60s are hot right now though.

I, too, used to collect comic books as a pup. I remember buying a #1 Spiderman off the rack. I unfortunately lost all my books in a freak rainstorm when I had them in my tree house and my mom made me come in "immediately" to go eat lunch. Most expensive lunch ever!
