You're popular enough that raffles might be necessary. Like you said you can flip flop back and forth. Maybe do a raffle one month and then the next opening do first come first served. Something else you can do. Open commission and have people fill out forms with their info. How many characters, the scene, ect ect, and then YOU pick the ones you want to do.

I’m not sure about that last one, seems more unfair to me! But I’ll consider it for some cases, perhaps commissions with my characters! Thx for replying and giving suggestions!

Works both ways, so you'll have to find what you like best. Though personally, I stay away from raffles outright as I have never won one in my life lol. However a mix of both could be best.

Do whatever you feel like doing. If come a few weeks from now you decide to open up commissions but can't figure out if you want to make it first come first serve or a raffle flip a coin or something

I don’t think raffles are very fair, you should do a queue list and let everyone get a chance. Cause raffles and first come first serve aren’t fair to that ONE person that’s just begging to get art

What you say is very true, it would give a chance to a bigger amount of people.

BUT on my side, a long waiting list causes me extremely anxiety, I learned this on January when i opened for like 16 slots. Plus another issue is, my country instability because our economy crisis, I have no idea if the next months ill still be able to withdraw money with PayPal, just like in the past. So everyone who got a slot in the queue will have to be removed anyway.
Another bad thing is, if Im tired of commissions and I want to do something else to earn money, that long queue will still be there, and cancelling it will be hard, as I know a bunch of the ppl who were waiting will be mad that I didnt work with them. The queue list would have to be limited too, adding ppl over and over and over wont be fun :P
So I prefer to take less than 10 slots for a period of two months. Thanks for the suggestion tho!

You can always cancel spots as long as they don't pay.

Maybe do a list, but explain its not official. It can be wiped at any time if you feel stressed. YOu could also make it so one person cant commission you multiple times in a row to make it fair to others. A problem I see is artists who are NEVER open for commissions always ONLY do commissions for the same people.

I would love to commission you myself even. Lots of people I want to commission but when its private its rather difficult.

In your case I'd suggest something more like what Jackrow does. Have potential clients submit a Google form or similar with their idea, and you pick a few that you like best. It's less "fair", perhaps, but it ensures that you don't get stuck with something you'll hate having to draw. And you can still give preference to new customers if you want.

You're quite a good artist. You have a good problem to have.

I think the best for you as an artist is to choose what you want to draw. Open your commissions for a day or two and choose the commission ideas people offer you and you like most. This way you can make progress with a particular skill, draw a character or a pose you like etc.
You can do this with a (Google) form for example like velos and Hondra mentioned here or just with whatever way of communication you prefer. But be prepared that you most likely get a lot of messages.

An alternative could be to announce when exactly you open your commissions a few days earlier, post a timer in a journal and then proceed with first come, first serve as soon as the timer is on zero.
You still can add a raffle for people that were still too late, if you want to, but at least this way people are less stressed, because they don't have to check your journals every five minutes.

Yeah not looking forward to do that, spending time to read every idea wont be fun, I already have to spend extra time with the customer when I start the planning process, so I will avoid that. However I will consider it if I want commissions with my characters <:

The other suggestion isnt bad, I dont wanna have a timer, but since im on a routine, I like to plan things before the month starts.. so ppl would know at what dates I open for commissions. I'd like to do it once every two months
