Twisted modern idea of morality

In recent times I noticed a certain tendency. As you look online, especially on social media sites, you see tons of people posting, sharing stuff to keep reminding everyone of their stance and beliefs. It is something that some label as „virtue signalizing”, and I do believe that the demeening phrase is often deserved.
„So many poor children in Africa, starving! Oh this is so sad!”
Me: Yeah, it is... so? What will you do about it? Are you going to donate to some charity? How is you sharing this post going to make any bit of difference?
„If you don't like or share this post, then it means you hate gay people!”
Me: …. why would I care about the opinion of someone who calls me as homophobic for not clicking a button on some stupid post?
„I'm promoting this new show, cause it features a deaf character, and I think it's about time we get a show that represents these people!”
Me: Why? How does a show that has a deaf character help deaf people? How does it make their lives easier?
„It raises awareness!”
ah yes, that word „raising awareness”. Look at me, I'm just liking and sharing thing, preaching a message to the choir. Telling people to like and share my post, so more people can be aware that such people exist, and do nothing more! I'm a real hero!!!
You know, I mostly care about what my friends and close ones think of me. I try to be supportive, helpful to them.... it doesn't always work. I'm clumsy and dumb, but at the end of the day, that's what I want to achieve. I want those around me to like me for who I am, and hopefully think of me as a friend who's there for them. Everybody else who just follows me on social media can think of me what they want. I appreciate the support, but I don't feel like I should be striving to look pure in the eyes of people with whom I'll most likely never interact with.
However I now see so many people who are not concerned with being seen or feeling like good people for their actions towards individuals that they know, but through actions or more properly said IN-actions towards target demographics. Empty and hollow signs of support, just to look so virtuous. It really reminds me of celebrities giving money to charity or making big speeches lecturing people to do things which they themselves don't do. But of course, just point out how dumb this all is, and all of a sudden you're a hater, because only a hateful bigot would want to offer legit help.
Just felt like writing this out there. Thank you for your attention.

This is nothing else but deceiving oneself. "Ah, see? i did a good deed, aaah, blessed I am!", even though you actually didn't do really much. It's the same here in Germany. So many people yell stuff like "We need to accept MORE refugees, and even more! And more! Germany is a rich country, we (stress on "we"!) have to help them!" Now if you ask those people "Okay, and how many refugees are YOU gonna accomodate?" you'll most often get an "Me? Uh... ME? Oh... uh... I cannot let other people live with me, uh... my house/appartment/whatever isn't big enough, you know, umm..."
It's this hilarious "WE oughta do something" versus "What, they want ME to actively and actually do something? No way! D:"
Can't take such persons seriously. :/
Ich mag es ausgelacht, erniedrigt, gefoltert und finde es erregend mich als Charakter vorzustellen der stirbt............. aber das "andere F-wort" ? Ich glaube das geht deutlich zu weit!!!!
Being a every day good person doesn't roll the likes in all that fast or make you known. Helped a friend in need by offering em a shoulder to lean on an an ear to talk to? Snore.. Helped out a neighbor who was having difficulty with moving something? Pffff.. Tutored someone in some area of life which they were struggling cause you care about them as a person and truly wanna see them do better? Pedestrian..
People really just want to LOOK like good people first and foremost without having to really do anything for it. Jumping into a group or a cause is the fastest way to just slap that stick-on name tag of an identity to yourself and go "me me me, see I am part of this thing, me me me"
