Headphone issue

General
I've got myself a new computer, and I had some issues with the sound. The monitor has build-in speakers, and with them it does work all right, but the quality leaves a lot to be desired, so I did use my headphones, however I noticed that I hear a silent screeching sound sometimes when nothing is on, or that when playing certain games there's a bit of silent static around. All of this is in the background, so when a lot of things are playing loudly, I don't hear it (either it's being drawn out, or cause it doesn't play then).
I tried to test this with a different, older pair of headphones, but the problem persists. I thought that it could be a driver problem. Going into the device manager, I notice 3 under sound:
-2 from NVIDIA
-and one is just a compatible device with High Definition Audio
All have quite up to date drivers, and only the last is from Microsoft.
Could anyone offer some advise?
