I don't know if this has always been a thing, and I've just tuned it out until now, or if it's an actual recent trend. I've just started to see more of it lately, and it's starting to actively ruin my enjoyment of both writing and consuming content.
Critiquing how something is done is fine: I'm always happy (well, annoyed but at myself) when people point out mistakes I've made.
Critiquing what is done if it improves what's there is also fine: If someone cared enough about my stories to point out where characters were inconsistent, I'd be thrilled.
Having personal opinions on things is fine: Yes, I'm going to complain about Aggretsuko again. I still hate the Netflix show, but I can see it working in something akin to the Working Buddies short sketch format (since that show also has fairly cheap animation outside of the intro/end credit sequences which clearly show they put in effort, something which Aggretsuko lacks) which I think it originally had.
But I put my opinion into my journal, rather than every piece of Haida fanart I came across (that would have been the equivalent of deep-throating a firehose, anyway) because people can make what they want (as long as it's not illegal); I can just leave if it's not something I like, which I do a lot.
I really don't get doing otherwise, but then I hate the idea of bothering anyone (even when I'd be fully justified to) so I end up not leaving comments, even on things I don't like, unless I already know the creator behind it.
Anyway, just chalk this up to another thing I'm confused about.
