I thought it was common knowledge that deviantart is only for A: Concept/game artists B: ms paint scribbles C: MLP and Sonic stuff. That or IRL porn screenshots - it is torture trying to upload there anything and to expect humane comments.

Tell me about it. Some of the comments I got on my recent Bowsette sketch and other related art are insulting. One told mew I was ruining DA and taking views away from more deserving artists. Another called a degenerate and said "go fuck a chainsaw". Lovely.

I notice that if your art is popular enough within a short time, like 100-200 faves in 24 hours, you're likely in the "popular 24 hours" section. I've seen you're art in there. I think people troll that section and just trash any art with sex appeal, fetishes or furry content.

There's a noticeable group who think anything sexy is horrible...

Yeah...is funny they saying rhat we are ruining the site, yet they can't realize how hateful they are. THEY are the ones who gives DA a bad reputation

and a even more funny thing? Mostly of them are women .-. every single hate comment i get are from girls

I really don't like the increasingly hateful culture around art these days. If you gain any level of popularity people act like it's undeserved. If you make sexy art people act like it's harmful. It doesn't matter what you do you will either be insulted or ignored.

DA deleting my art has hurt my image of them, though. They let people threaten me but take down nude art...

At least there are enough people who do appreciate artists and comment encouraging things to keep me going!

DA is well worth posting on but there will always be those who try to tear down others.

Surprisingly, I have not received any take-down notices or troll posts on my dA. Then again, I am aware that the site is considered as a cesspool by some.

I've only had a DA for like 10 years just to claim a specific username before it was taken. In those 10 years, have I followed anyone or posted art there? Nope. Does my page still exist? Strangely, yes it does after being inactive for such a long time. I wouldn't be able to manage having many art accounts, as it's hard enough for me to run just THIS one lol!

The stories I post on DA often get more views than on Fimfiction. I get a hell of a lot more views of my art over there than I do here. I have more fans over there than I do here. Different sites have different audiences, that's all.

If you ever do leave DA, let your fans know in a journal and perhaps in a submission along with links to your other accounts. Those that do follow you closely will take notice, and those that don't well that's on them for ignoring your message. If you REALLY want your DA audience to notice your transition, I suggest you only post crop images on your DA linking to your FA/Patreon for a month before stopping your activity on DA.

Agreed, I hate DeviantArt only because of the majority of the community (constant salt, weird behaviors, severe self-pride, etc) and the fact that it's an Art website that restricts creative and artistic freedom... like... wtf? Do they not know that art is LITERALLY that?

Sorry to hear that. I personally find DA rather unimportant lately. Not only is the furry fan base rather scattered, it's rules are vague at best and it's hard to get noticed there for the smaller artist like me.

I keep my mature filter up at all times on FA because of the terrible, graphic content I know people make in the particular communities I serve and want nothing to do with them.

I find it rather annoying people get on you over the sexual nature of your content. You are really liberal with your use of the mature label, more so than several other semi-popular artists I've seen.

unlike deviantart, newgrounds accept everything but its audience is much smaller. its still a solid website that handled the test of time

if theres one thing i like of deviantart is its gallery system and its very solid search function

AI art spam, photomanip spam, disgusting stuff everywhere, rampant art theft... Oh wait, those are the reasons why people DON'T use DA.
