Chicago tips anybody?
Hello! Thought I'd put a message here and check if anyone living around Chicago could give me some pointers on what is there to do there, sights, things to visit, etc...
Thank you!
Bear.

I promise, you won't be disappointed and even locals love it.
- Visit our museums (Museum of Science & Industry, Field Museum, Art Institute of Chicago , Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium, Chicago History Museum, + many others; history is everywhere in this city).
- Walk along the riverfront; my favorite spot is the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, beautifully terraced and not very crowded.
- Millennium Park has "The Bean" (Cloud Gate) of course, but the park is huge. Worth walking about.
- Get deep dish pizza. This is an absolute must-do, everyone has their favorite place though so ask around.
- Get some gyros from Greektown.
- Get a Chicago-style hotdog from Jim's (best in the city IMO). And they have no tables, you have to eat it standing-up outside on a cold metal counter. CASH ONLY. And DON'T put ketchup on it, you'll get yelled at.
- Visit Lincoln Park Zoo, it's FREE!!!
- Take a dip in Lake Michigan if you're bear enough, it's icy cold now but so invigorating (we host a Polar Plunge every year). Careful though, the "lake" is more like a freshwater sea, don't swim too far.
- Go to Wrigleyville (area near the stadium) after a Cubs game for some of the rowdiest, liveliest drunk shenanigans you can imagine. Win or lose it's always a party.
I want to point out I only covered the areas a "tourist" is most likely to visit. There are LOADS of things to see and experience in the South and West areas of the city. Sure, some neighborhoods aren't safe to travel alone after dark, but Chicago isn't nearly as dangerous as some make it seem. This is a city of very distinct neighborhoods, and if you keep an open mind and heart you'll have a great time. Just use common sense and street smarts.
