Microsoft Tech support Scam
all started on may 15 2018 when I was approached over the phone by a company called E-tech calming to be an off site provider for Microsoft. They had me install a P2P software Go-to Assistant and TeamViewer to provide remote access to my computer They repaired errors on my Pc and did general maintenance which seemed legit.
I watched them for the whole eight hours it took them to do the repair. They then found why there was an Error they said it was due to WMS( Windows Microsoft Security) lapsing “when you buy the licences you only have coverage from Microsoft for One year” the then quoted me 3 prices 145.00USD for 1 year 256.00USD for 5 years and 389.00USD for lifetime. They told me that the lifetime would carry on to my next perches of windows. So I bought the lifetime, for 531.73CND the computer fixing continued till well into the night of July 19 2018.
they then called me back on October 4th 2018 (Posted Date October 9 2019)saying they had found another problem with my software they did another 5 hour assessment and found another piece of software had stopped functioning at a cost of 402.20CND. Wish I payed for with my TD Visa. My hardware was again unusable for the rest of the night. The next morning I found software I had installed to block spyware and Mail-ware missing out of my system.
On or around the date of October 12 2018 I was Contacted by E-tech support saying that the software that they installed was found to have several bugs and had to be patched. They then did another 4 hour assessment this time with RUN command boxes so it looked like they where patching/ replacing individual files. They told me to Do a Restart and found that the program patch was not effective. So they Informed me that I would receive a Refund for Booth peaces of Software. To the Tune of 933.93CND he was going to give me two payments 500.00CND first and the Balance of 433.93NCD in the next 2 business days he had me Open my Bank account and go to the section on e-transfer and He made the text so small on my End I could not see what he was doing. I assumed it was to hide a Corporate account number and name from my sight He then asked me to check my checking account for the Transaction it showed 2000.00 not 500.00 so He made a mistake in the amount and put 2000.00CND in my checking account reoccurring. But In reality it took Credit from my Credit account and Transferred it to my checking account... We then used three methods to get the 1500.00CND with Western Union and Donation site and Direct bank to bank transfer in this barrage I lost track of the amount owed and set him 2500.00 when I only needed to send him 435.76 after that day on October 13,2018.
I found out I had been scammed on October 18, 2018 when I was applying for a job from Skip the Dishes and needed to give them an account for Direct Deposit and found my available Credit was 81.00CND and my Used Credit was $6996.89CND I realized that he had scammed me out of my refund and 4500.00CND out of my Credit account and $350.00USD out of my Dash wallet.
