Update #10 How commissions?
Hello, to all my current viewers,
I have been contemplating on opening commissions for a while, but I have not the time or knowledge to proceed with these plans. I have asked myself questions to a successful commission and yet I’m still anxious about it.
How do I get paid?
What prices should my drawings be?
What should I draw?
How many slots should I do?
Should they contain anthros?
Do I have to make a PayPal account?
Etc.
To make matters worse: I don’t have internet so my communications and activities are stalled, but I’ll try to post as much as I can before we get our problems resolved. (I have to go to coffee shops for free internet) If you have any suggestions please share.
Thank you for your patience and attention.

As for price (from expérience) start low and start slowly rising them up when you receive confused notes about your prices "wtf it's too cheap" :D
For real, make an estimate of your time to complete a piece then multiply the total of hours by the minimal wage hour salary
It's a good starter
Hope it goes well for you!
Also I don't agree with the guy under me about the number of slot. Go for 4, like a pic/ a week. If you feel confident after that, rise the number of slots. I tried the former and I noticed doing coms was very draining for me, the novelty quickly faiding up when you realise that, despite people coming for your style (or the fetish content you produce, let's be realist a second) there's usually a lot of restraints of what you are allowed to do (depend of commissioners and/or the "prestige" you will gain overtime, people trusting you to produce a good pic)
Again, I wish you good luck :D
Draw whatever you want! With your style, though, I'd back away from porn/fetish/NSFW, because to me, your art is super focused on atmosphere.
Not saying don't do macro, because you do it fantastic.
Price them how you feel, either by quality of art (sketch, flat color, shaded), however I see you usually push out the same type of art which is the vector/shaded stuff, so I'd say charge by the hour. Most artists charge $15-30 an hour, depending on the piece. Let people know how long it'll take/give an estimate.
Start with 5-10 slots(depending on how fast you work. People get pissy if they wait >1 month in a queue) and then move from there with what is comfortable. Don't burn out!
Definitely do macros, that's 95% of your audience here.
If you do end up opening, I'll order in a heartbeat, hope I helped!
I honestly don't like telling artists what they should price their work at, I prefer that they do whatever works for them.
If they plan to do furry art full time, I usually suggest they start with low prices to attract an audience and raise them over time as their customer base grows. If it's just a side job for getting a few extra dollars, I don't think that there's really much of a formula to worry about.
Starting off, I'd recommend a limited amount of slots. Take too much on at once and not only could it be overwhelming for you, but requires more commitment to your original plans too. Starting with smaller batches will be a lot less risky. I see a lot of artists ending up running monthly openings, but there's no right or wrong way to do it. I see tons of different approaches to it that all work.
I say yes on drawing anthro, but asking something like that here is going to give a lot of biased responses.
