*gasp* Dearshul's Doing a PWYW Art Sale? [CLOSED]
Yes, lovelies,
Even though I said I was closing down commissions a few bills still need paying. ^^ Technically, I'm still not taking commissions. I'm just informing you that the sidhe is opening its closely guarded doors for a select few revelers who feel they are brave enough to try to keep up with the fae during Foghair. What is Foghair, you ask? Take much of the festivities and mischief of Samhain and Dionysia, roll it into one night, and then remove the mortals from the equation to end up with a proper Foghair. However, once in a very, very long while, an invitation is extended to those with eyes open enough to see it. Congratulations. It seems you are one such person.
Allow me to break down what to expect:
1. The fae will always be watching you. Some will be explicit about it and some will not, but rest assured you are being followed and observed at all times. If you have a member of the Seelie Court in mind who you would like to escort you to ensure your safety, please make that clear upon your arrival. (Dubhgall, Lachlan, Cathal, Sinead, Lord Umund, Medoro, Jiminy, Eala, and Sprink will be available on that night.)
2. Food and drink is everywhere. Any food or drink within reach is fair game, but be wary. Fae refreshments have curious (and often transformative) effects on mortals.
3. You will be invited to step on stage. A large part of Foghair revolves around sidhe myth and oral history. Traditionally, elder fae recite the rarer tales around bonfires, and groups of the more theatrical sidhe denizens weave improvised retellings of the more popular myths. You will be permitted to take on a role if it is not filled. All you have to do is ask. However, you may find that you really start embodying the character you're given, so do be careful.
4. You'll be here a while. The festivities of Foghair are enough to make anyone want to take a few days to recuperate. If the magics of the night have given you a transformative experience, you will be required to remain in the sidhe until the effects fade. Don't worry. You won't be there for longer than a week... in sidhe time, that is.
Here come the disclaimers, hold onto your hats:
*All residents of the sidhe and members of the Seelie Court belong to me (Save for unicorn Eala, who belongs to himself, and Cesan, who belongs to BearRodeo)
*Slots will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis
*This sale is pay-what-you-want. As such, the pictures you receive are not eligible for revisions
Please let the Seelie Court know if you will be requiring an escort, if you have a preference of escort, and whether you are most interested in spending the night enjoying the refreshments, trying your hand at acting, or navigating the next day in whatever shape you've ended up. We hope to see you there!

Enedia: I'm guessing that you want that mutt, do you?
Well...
Enedia: Take him, he needs a walk anyways.
Enedia, please don-
Enedia: Nonsense, you'll enjoy it, my fellow author. You'll be a better performer than writer anyways.
Enedia: *covers his mouth* He agrees.
Uh... thanks. Who are the actors by the way?
An escort seems prudent, but who to pick... Mmm... Medoro's capable and always good company, ditto Dubghall, but Cathal feels like he might know his way around a party better. I'd be fine with any of the three, though I'm leaning toward the Cait Sidhe.
On the activity front... Aside some stage fright, getting in on a performance could be fun and interesting* (any particular tales they've got in mind, there?), but there's no way I'm passing up an opportunity to indulge
a bita lot in some excellent fey food** and a bit of drink. Not to say I won't be socializing or sitting in on stories/dramatizations or seeing what games and other fun could be had (maybe even slipping into a performance after all). But one sure thing is that I'm either enjoying fine faerie sweets and other cuisine a bit too much or dealing with the consequences in the days to follow. ^_^Hm, I do have another thought I'm rolling around, but it might overcomplicate things.
* F: "Thanks for filling in, and don't worry. Your part's easy: no complicated lines for you, heheh. Just act naturally, 'speak' on cue, and you'll do great."
G: "Sure, seems legit! ... Waaaait, wh--?" <crosses point of no return>
** One would think I should know better by now. And I do: that stuff's amazing and worth it. ^_^ I think of it like someone with a mild food allergy going for a forbidden favorite. ... I'll grant it involves more pelt/plumage, anatomical/vocal/instinctual challenges, and lingering embarrassment than it does hives or indigestion, but still. >.>
They are all fine choices to be sure, but you're right. Cathal is more likely to let loose and enjoy the party than his canine counterparts.
I do have some tales in mind! ^^ Most of them are taken straight out of celtic mythology. They like turning people into things in those old stories. But either way I'm excited to see what kind of silliness ensues once you've joined the fun.
Go ahead and run it by me! I'm a fan of creative takes on these little escapades. The worst I might do is say no. ^^
Indeed! He also seems he may be practiced at keeping his charge from any especially dangerous or entrapping tricks... whilst encouraging him toward the merely harmless and transitory ones. Just to keep things interesting.
Ah, true enough! My exposure's been limited, but the few brushes I've had have been pretty replete with the that sort of thing. I don't think it's quite celtic, but I imagined a fae revisionist (faerie-visionist?) version of Tam Lin came to mind. Certainly looking forward to however the evening goes! ^_^
And sounds good! The idea would still include unwise amounts of indulgence, alongside anything else I get up to: it would just serve as a sort of additional possible complication/focus. It draws very lightly on some RP we had a ways back. In that recent(ish) chat with Medoro and Dubhgall, I mentioned an interest in learning a bit of magic and the poodle seemed thoughtful on suggestions. If Medoro (or an acquaintance) found a suitable instructor with interest in a mortal pupil, Foghair (or shortly after) could make a natural time for face-to-face introductions. Glutting my way into a different face may not help with first impressions, but hey! ^_^o Possibilities could include meeting this possible mentor (however well that goes) at or after the festivities, getting some advice/caution from my escort while on the way to said meeting, or finding out how tricky a basic magic lesson can be when you're not at all the right shape for it.*
* Alternatively, magic that's a perfect fit for that shape, but with... some sort of complications if used while human (possibly resuming the educated shape). Not sure how that'd show, though, so maybe not.
Funny you mention it, the story of Tam Lin is among them. ^^
I see! Okay, this looks like something fun to play with. ^w^ I think the easiest way to go about this would be an introduction to this possible mentor as the evening progresses. I imagine Cathal would want to show off a rather reckless human charge to his friends. I have a few ideas about who might take interest in a human protege... well, usually human, anyway. How does that sound?
Ah, nice. I'll look forward to finding out any others as things proceed.
And it sounds like a fun time. ^_^ I'm in! So, I'll look forward to meeting the possible mentor, making a spectacle of myself to Cathal & co., and likely finding out how well the new body can blush.
Great! One final question and I'll leave you to the festivities. With choices of roasted meats, salted meats, fruit platters, vegetable platters, artisan breads, and various exotic looking sweets before you, how would you fill your plate? ^^
Variety's the spice of life, so I'll be trying for some of everything, and expect to end up with a fairly packed plate. To help prioritize, I'll put some (perhaps misplaced) trust in any recommendations Cathal has for me (both what to eat and what to avoid), seek out anything that seems to be popular and going fast, and otherwise just trust my eyes and nose for what seems most flavorful and appetizing. All that said, I've got a sweet tooth: those fascinating-looking desserts won't fill the plate, but will be disproportionately represented. ^_^
tl;dr (mostly to prove to myself that I can) - The plate's contents will be varied and plentiful, if skewed a bit toward sweets, and focused on the recommended, the popular, and the tantalizing.
