Tera: "This. . . Actually doesn't look that bad. Heck, it might even be good. It looks like they genuinely know how big this franchise is and actually do want to do both it and its most devoted fans justice."
*Pikachu starts talking*
"Buh. . . Fuh. . . Nnnnnngh! THAT VOICE DOES NOT BELONG IN THAT BODY!!!"
I would have been okay with the talking Pikachu -- I really would have. After all, talking Pokemon have existed in the anime since the second episode over twenty years ago.
But. . . WHY?!! Why does he sound EXACTLY like Deadpool?!!
I. . . Ugh. . . You know what the worst part is? That's the only thing I actually see that's definitely wrong with it. This looks like it could have otherwise been good, or at least respectful enough of the source material to be admirable in absence of being good (sort of like the Where The Wild Things Are movie, which few people I know liked but absolutely nobody I know will talk smack about). I do not see, in this, a shameless cash grab. I see something that could have been great if it weren't for just one lazy shitbag -- if it weren't for a casting director thinking "We need an a-lister to do the talk shows!" instead of "We need somebody who sounds at least remotely convincing as a cute fuzzy-faced rodent."
Probably because this isn't another dime-a-dozen animated made-for-TV Pokémon movie.
And of course it's Ryan Reynolds. :-P
I was thinking of like the annual ones they tended to make, (manaphy, Darkrai, Arceus, etc).
They stopped doing that once the gen 7 anime started.
