Snow?!

I know that for many of you, snow is no big deal, but never have I known it to snow in Memphis this early in the year. We are going to get about an inch or two. Some years we go completely without a snowfall and the city only averages about 2 to 4 inches a year. The last time the city had measurable snowfall on Christmas Day was in 1911.
The Sabertooth in me is wanting a new Ice Age.

I enjoy the snow, but hate it when I have to work. I'd rather be home when it does.
Remember to alter your driving habits accordingly... Or even better... Stay off the roads until it's clear... I remember learning to adapt to the snow with my pickup in North Dakota... Scary times XD (front wheel drive cars are highly recommended! Pickups with light rear ends are not)
Hope you still have your snowshoes from the last Ice Age.
Take your hand and spread your fingers as wide as you can. That is about the size of a Sabertooth's footprint. As heavy as they were though, I doubt even snowshoes would hold them up.

1-2" of snow is what I call "Postcard snow." It's wonderful to wake up and find the front lawn blanketed in white, and walk outside and hear the absolute silence. But then it's gone by the afternoon.

About 2" square and 8" long.
I can't remember the last time I had any, so I decided it was time.
I'm eating a 1/4 of it now as I type.

We're coming up on 7 weeks of below average temperatures (with many of them being 15+ below normal), except for 3 or 4 days just barely above normal.
I expected this when living up in Wisconsin. Not after moving down here to Memphis. :p
When I was in third grade we got a new school superintendent, and he was from Wisconsin. From then all the way through high school, I would swear he still based closure decisions on Wisconsin standards. Foot of snow? That’s a dusting—go to school. Ten below? Swimsuit weather—go to school. Ice storm? Skate to school.
This was one of the worst single storms we had (27 inches in 24 hours).
I lived 2 blocks from Lake Michigan so there was a lot of wind causing 6 foot snowdrifts in on spot, and almost able to see the ground, a few feet away:

Of course, in order to take the above photo, I first had to get out of my house. Fortunately, the door opened inwards:

Once the first snow of the season hit, this is pretty much how it looked until Springtime:

Lets see what we have down South. We have miles and miles of soybeans, and cotton. Just to the west, we have lots of rice in Arkansas. It stays hot and sticky in the summer, and cold and sticky in the winter. The only good thing about where I live is that there are lots of forests, and of course, the Mississippi River. Oh, and I'm about three or four miles from Graceland.
First wrong part of Alaska after all Alaska is almost 2.5 times the size of Texas. Igloos are used as temporary housing/shelter while hunting or traveling on the ice-pack.
Booooooo!
YEAH! ICE AGE! ^^
