Thankfully we only lost power for about 2-3 minutes. Unlike some people who have been out for 3-4 days now. T.T

Power outages are why my family got a propane powered generator

Yeah. I had a generator for the fridge, but that's about all it would power. I always think... How big would one have to be for the entire house? XD

I'd say at least 2,000kw. Ours is 1,600kw and we have to turn the heat down while it's running. We also have an APC for the modem, TV, cable boxes and my PC so we don't have to wait for them to reboot after the generator kicks in

Some people have been out for a few days now. I feel bad for them, but then there's that... Better them than me thing. We were out during a hurricane a year or so ago... Out for a whole week. >.< I hated it. I'm afraid of storms now.

Yeah. You never realize how much you depend on water and electricity until its temporarily unavailable

I'm sorry to hear that the weather is giving you trouble but I hope despite all of this you and your family will remain okay. Whether it's a heavy storm or just a light drizzle I am going to pray for your safety and well-being.

It dumped snow, but thankfully no loss of power except the 3-4 minutes we were out. Thankfully nothing else happened. Thank you for the prayers. I always believe they help.

i grew up in kind of semi-remote places where power always went out a couple of times a year,
because they were so far from urban population centers, we expected this and made not big deal,
other then providing for its inevitability, with a good supply of batteries, lamp oil, full propane tanks and so on.

when culture insists on arbitrary familiarity ahead of logical provision for completely known and familiar local conditions,
however paria i may make myself to say so, they're doing it wrong. especially if we're talking about cities or large towns.

and sometimes its even easy to list the ways in which they/we are.
cities and monopolistically centralized power generation and the the two located distant from each other are somewhat obvious.
as is of course, the stone age means of generating electrical power by burning coal or even atoms.

as long as you've got a place to stay warm and plenty to eat, the vaguries of weather are a spectical nature provides to enjoy.

Yeah, I hate power outages, but they're a natural thing here. Especially with the fact that the power company still has power poles instead of burying the lines. T.T I wish they would especially here where there's more trees than people. (It's nice.)

But it's true as long as you stay warm and full you can weather a storm. :)
