Sometimes, someone just has to say it
Using console commands to alter the game in different ways in singe player. For either learning or exploring, or just screwing around. Think of it like garry's mod. Sandbox.
I am interested in hearing other's opinions on this feature of using the console commands, and if you think it is cheating or just a different style of play. Keep in mind that it is just being used in single player.

If it's single player i use them myself. Like in Skyrim or Fallout or even Dragon Age Origins. Sadly it's not every engine that has a dev console and it seems that less and less games come out with that option. And even the ones who do have limited options- Like DAO for example you can only do the typical stuff like invulnerability, add items, change party members, stuff like that

It's fine. It is a single player game, not like you are hurting another player. I personally don't use them ever because I'm one of those puritans, like I've used cheats before but it kinda ruined the fun for me you know? But if you like doing them, then go right ahead. There's no harm in it at all. Hell, I do use console commands on occasion to just spawn in a bunch of NPCs to kill each other. That's always fun.

Oh hell yes! I've been playing the Forest lately on solo and I wanted to experiment with different building designs and test how some structures function. So I used console commands to turn on build mode. Turns out, building a base over water is a horrible horrible nightmare, even with building hacks on lol.
