Hi, guys. I've got a problem.
There was a big old storm up here today, and it involved many, many split-second power outages. My computer is designed/set/whatever to automatically reboot after a power outage, and I think that might have something to do with the fact that it's now, to use the technical term, "totally fucked". Hint: I'm not writing this from my own computer.
I turn it on and it goes through the usual boot-up sequence. Then it shows an error message for a nanosecond. Then it restarts. Repeat ad nauseum until I manually kill the power. I tried booting it up in safe mode, but that had the same exact effect. I tried this "Repair computer" option in the safe mode menu, and that looked promising, but after performing mysterious actions for about forty-five minutes, nothing had changed.
Also, system restore straight-up failed, which I've never seen before.
I'm worried that the repair thing not working might mean it's a hardware problem, which would be just great.
I'm not writing this journal just to bitch, or to ask for donations or whatever for a computer repair fund. I got that covered if it does come to that, God forbid.
I'm writing this because until I get this fixed, I'm not gonna be able to participate much on FA, or do much work on my stories. Yes, I keep all my work on an external hard drive, and I could just hook that up to another machine and pick up where I left off, but I wouldn't really feel comfortable writing furry porn on someone else's computer, eh?
So maybe I'll have it fixed tomorrow, maybe it'll take a month, I have no idea. I just wanted to let you guys know that if I vanish, there's a very good reason for it. Anybody got any suggestions, I'd be very glad to hear them.

Hey, maybe you could...nah, virgin sacrifices just don't work like they used to.
It's bad karma, I suppose.
(assuming you have a Microsoft computer)
-click START, RUN, then type “msconfig”. click the services tab, then click hide all Microsoft services check box to filter the list to show third-party services only. Click disable all. Restart the computer to see if the problem has gone away. If it has, the problem is from a third party program, or service. You can then go through a trial and error of finding which one is the perpetrator. (beware turning off disable Microsoft services, doing so could make you lose all your system restore points.)
If the problem persists, its possibly software, or hardware in your computer.
good luck!
I don’t know what your operating system is, but its worth a try. For example, I didn’t know that holding the SHIFT key before your desktop and taskbar appears, stops programs from loading automatically.
Its possible, that this simple thing could keep the error from appearing.
I apologize that I could not help any further. It’s a little hard (that’s what he said!) to know what exactly is wrong with it without being there. Let us hope your computer does not end up in the obituaries!
