Nintendo Online, 7 Day Free Trial complaining.

Silly rant that means nothing but I am gonna complain. =U
So I have been enjoying Super Smash Bros Ultimate enough that I was considering getting the 7 Day Free Trial of Nintendo Online and do as much as I can for the Online Challenges.
Well it turns out a credit card or Paypal are required to sign up. Oh yeah, gotta have payment methods where you can keep digging money out unlike those pesky eShop money cards.
Now obviously I could ask my parents for one of their credit card numbers, especially since I have absolutely no interest in actually signing up for the Nintendo Online service, but still it's kind of a principle thing.
Why can't I JUST get my free trial and not have these extra steps? Oh right, because when you get the free trial it's set to automatically sign you up for the $4 30 day subscription at the end of 7 days, so as to take advantage of people or kids that don't realize they can 1: turn it off, or 2: they forget to turn it off.
Obviously I don't NEED to get those last 13 Challenges on Smash Ultimate, but I was hoping I could so I could actually fully 100% a Smash game as I never have, and this one was VERY achievable.
So yeah, pointless complaint that accomplishes nothing, I just felt like ranting. >_>

FA+

But yeah, as you read by my journal I am not fond of this stuff either, luckily I turned out automatic renewal before even going a step further.
Like I know absolutely nothing about all this. =/
I'm just really weird about stuff like this. ._.
Have you played the new Smash yet?
I still feel that you should never be signing up for automatic renewal without absolute transparency during the payment or subscription process, it's something I've run afoul of before with Xbox Live which I used a single time to download a Sonic Generations demo. Microsoft never once sent me any emails or statements about the monthly renewals either.
I don't know if Nintendo are clear about it when signing up for the trial. It personally wouldn't be an issue for me to do this, since I have Paypal set up, or just using my debit card as usual.
Lizardguy above you is making me an offer, do you have any info on that?
Yeah, I'm familiar with the family plan thing.
Basically you can buy a family plan which covers up to 8 Nintendo Accounts as I recall, and the rate for each individual account is far cheaper than an individual subscription.

And whoever is paying for the plan can invite 7 others to it, you'd just be covered by Lizardguy.
I see. I may just go ahead and use my debit card since I know there is no harm or foul to doing this. I would certainly be diligent in making sure that the automatic renewal is turned off so I wouldn't have $4 taken out of my account. I'm just weird about this kind of stuff.
Otherwise, Animal Crossing should be entirely enjoyable without the need to play it online just as before.
I'd really have to skip on a Switch Animal Crossing though, because it demands so much time, it's a commitment.
I mean it's a matter of principle, really.
Yep, in any case I just went through with it and ALREADY turned off automatic renewal. ;3
Ah, so I guess you'd better get started on those online challenges.
Hopefully you'll have fun playing it online too. :P
I did end up getting a 1 month, but eventually my parents just said "Fuck it" and my mom let me use her credit card to upgrade it to a 1 year
But it's an alright service
1) SSBU = Battles (glitchy)
2) MK8D = Races (I actually miss my races)
3) Pkmn Let's Go = Trades and Battles (though we don't have much of a competitive scene for it yet)
And then I want to get MHGU as well. I had a friend who's brother wants people to join on his account, I just question signing up with a friend expected to remember to pay, and not sure if he would try to change how much he wants others to pay. I've also been considering buying a subscription myself, but I don't even know seven other people that would want to sign up (I know four that might consider, but one of those would be me paying for him considering circumstances). Personally, I wish Nintendo hadn't went with this online service set up, but I am glad the prices are cheaper than what Xbox Live and PS Plus are.
