Super Smash Bros Ultimate, my first online gaming experience

General
Insert "not the best first impression" here. =P
So yeah, despite online gaming being a thing for a long time I have had no interest in participating. The whole reason I opted to get the 7 day free trial of Nintendo Online was so I could full 100% all of the in game challenges in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. And yes, I got all 124 Challenges completed, without hammers. =D
And yes, I experienced lag in matches, some pretty bad input delay in a couple matches and stuff like that. But it wasn't what deters me from this kind of thing.
For what it's worth:
Powered Time Count: 113:00
Play Time: 41:42
Main: Marth (More like the only character I can play "well." >_>)
Quickplay battles: 200
Wins: 80 A whopping 40% win rate. XD And some of these weren't really earned. =P
Highest Global Smash Power: 1,804,349
My average GSP stayed between 800,000 and 1,200,000. I KNOW I am not good at this game, so I went in knowing I wouldn't do very well, so I didn't care whether I won or lost a match. But I did have some pretty memorable matches.
I had a 2v2 match, no items, no Final Smash, 2 stock and on one of the Yoshi levels without hazards. I was Marth and my ally was Cloud. We were fighting against a Pokemon Trainer and an Inkling. We all seemed pretty evenly matched and all lost 1 stock around the same time. My ally was the first one to lose so I was left alone against my two opponents. o3o Now I am not the kind to give up as that isn't fun for either parties involved. Well I kept at it and managed to take out one of my opponents and I actually managed to beat the other one as well thus winning the match. =D That one felt earned~
There was a 1v1 match, 3 Stock no items, no hazards on a Final Destination styled level. I was Marth fighting against a Yoshi. Not really a grand match, but the Yoshi had a pretty bad fall that felt like one of those kind that he shouldn't have fallen, so I decided to be a good sport and fall to even things out. I lost the match in the long run but I really didn't mind, I preferred to even things out.
Another match was 2v2, no items, 2 stocks on Rainbow Cruise. I was Marth and my ally was Sonic. We were fighting against a Mii fighter (not sure which type) and Corrin. Well before the stage started autoscrolling, not even 30 seconds, my Sonic Ally lost BOTH of their stocks. =U Well like I said previously I don't give up and continued to fight, I didn't win this match, but I did last a full loop of the level and that's without running away from my opponents. =3 So I lasted 2.5 minutes in the match. =3
And it's funny, just in a couple days of playing online I saw people who spam moves, (I main Marth but I don't spam Down+B) people who just run away during the matches, people who don't participate in the 4 fighter matches, (those people I go after because they're gonna participate not spectate. =U) and players that are lesser skilled than even me. >_>
Now that I have experienced online play I can say it's not really for me. I didn't hate my experience, but I don't really need it either. Very pointless to talk about this, I just felt like talking about it.

FA+

I personally am a super compeditive person so I tend to somewhat understand the "meta" and turn into that person no one likes to hang around...
Regardless your allies can end up being the worst enemy at times and i can see how it just kills the play mood. 2v2 to me is only exciting when I am playing with another friend at my house. As we BOTH having communication becomes great.
Of course who, you getting paired with or against feels pretty random still. I have ZERO idea what nintendo's matchmaking is or if it even exists. I know it sets you up with other peoples preference but beyond that, i dont know anything else.
Yeah being able to talk with who you are playing with/against I am sure makes a difference.
No idea, based on those GSP's I saw people as low as 80,000 (like the Sonic player) and some as high as 1,800,000. So no idea how people are paired up. =U
If my experience of screaming and getting screamed at proven anything... Well salt is king
Eventually, the Switch is gonna offer some game that I REALLY need to play online, but I don't know what that'd be. Animal Crossing maybe?
Technically speaking they already have that with Splatoon. But I get what you mean, we'll see what is done with AC Switch.
That isn't to say though that it doesn't have superb single-player content, and the Octo Expansion is apparently even better. I gotta play that sometime.
I don't really play online myself in pretty much any game. I just don't find it that appealing to play with complete strangers online.
