Other than the kid holding the slingshot getting hit when it, I guess, breaks apart, I can't understand anything else going on. Someone please explain this to me.

Well, when the first kid throws that... water balloon? ceramic ball? what? there's a "something's gone wrong" sound, someone yelling, another... bad sound, then the slingshot snaps. I mean... wtf?

Looks like the rubber band snapped. That means pain at the best of times, but against bare skin...? No wonder he collapsed. He's still lucky, it could have hit lower...

Leftkid throws water baloon at Goalkid. This is only a distraction. Rightkid is distracted, and is not facing towards the slingshot band when the secure end of the band gets loose. Since Rightkid is pulling back on the giant rubber band, he gets whipped by the band. Rightkid falls backwards from a combination of impact and instinctive leap.
Failure: Rubber band. Failure: Rightkid at paying attention.

Distraction for the viewer. The water balloon has nothing to do with the slingshot. It gets the attention of Rightkid, so that he forgets about the Rubber Band Of Pain.

Just seems the left kid is throwing a water balloon at the goalie using some kinda shield like thing to block said water balloon while the kid on the right gets smacked in the gut by a snapping sling shot and recoils in pain.

He failed to hit the kid with the waterballoon, and then the rubberband snaps for more fail. Its epic fail on all accounts.
