Draconicorn's 2018 review
Hi everyone, hope your 2018 was for the most part, satisfactory! I don't really post journals too often...maybe I ought to change that in the future?
As we near the close of 2018, here are some highlights of some things which happened to me personally and some reflection.
In January, I switched from a 24'' display to a 21:9, 35'' Ultrawide 3440x1440 resolution monitor and to be honest, probably am addicted to UW screens now. Multitasking homework and entertainment made classes that much more enjoyable! I've also added some more audio gear to my setup.
After many years off, I decided to enroll for classes again mid 2017. Why the many years off? I took some classes in the early 2000s, but didn't read the fine print, these classes I took were no longer valid because I waited too long due to helping with the family business. This of course caused discouraging feelings along the lines of, "Why should I start over again? Those credits are still perfectly valid now!" I went ahead and talked with my family about it and my little brother encouraged me to continue on, even if I had to start all over again. I enrolled in an A.A.S program in IT at UAF (University of Alaska Fairbanks).
Anyhow, the semester of Spring 2018 took some getting used to! I'd say this is due to being really, really rusty at mathematics, but with the help of family and friends (you know who you are) I managed to pass Spring 2018 with 3 A's and one B. I took summer off (because who wants to go to school in the summer?! Yuck!) and got back into being an art whore, because I love you guys! Commissioned some new faces and old as well, but hopefully you all continue to enjoy what I produce and my characters!
In terms of gaming, I got back into classic EverQuest again, being an old player helped my interest of course, since the game is pretty archaic by today's standards and really focuses on the socialization aspect of MMOs more-so than graphics and ease-of-play. It's a hardcore experience compared to WoW and FFXIV. Why classic emulated MMO? There just wasn't too much that interested me this year as somebody who doesn't own a console! I have a PC: the last console I owned was a PlayStation 2. Other games I play: For Honor, MUCH less MechWarrior Online these days, and that's about it. Really looking forward to Ace Combat 7 and in the late future, Pantheon or Camelot Unchained.
Winter Semester 2018 went very well! I took just 3 classes this time around because winter can get a more than a bit intense for Alaskans. Three A's! My return to school has been a pleasant and fulfilling experience so far.
Thanks to all of the artists I commissioned this year, I always love seeing new takes on my characters and of course, tried and true go-to artists. I also co-created a sex toy with someone who asked at the end of 2017, check it out if you like in my featured submission! I also commissioned a sculpture of Syldria, which you will be able to see shortly.
Much <3 to you all, and here's to a great 2019!
