Sadly yet again I have been alerted to another fraudulent Umiriko copycats using my name, artwork and posing as me in a number of places, with the most recent one going around on discord sending invites to a server I have no connection to. The server isn't responsible in anyway and the owner has been very helpful and understanding. So in light of this most recent case I thought I would write a quick spotters guide to help anyone encountering a wild Umi determine if they should be suspicious or if you have indeed located the elusive water dragon hirself.
1) Location Location Location -
The easiest way to properly identify the real deal is by it being from one of these sources:
https://www.furaffinity.net/user/umiriko/
https://aryion.com/g4/user/Umiriko
https://www.patreon.com/Umiriko
https://www.deviantart.com/umiriko
https://www.f-list.net/c/umiriko
If you find someone posting Umiriko artwork or chatting away claiming they are me and it is not in one of these locations, best to treat it as suspicious, I do have a few accounts here and there on websites but I don't post art on them. I do not have an offical social media account such as twitter, facebook, and tumbler. I also do not have a youtube channel and do not wish for any of my content to be there. I am on discord but mostly only in my own Patreon channel that supports UmiBot, I also have a telegram account but again I am in very few groups and not overly active.
2) Activity -
As much as I do enjoy role-playing I am sadly a very busy dragon and have all but pulled out of it bar a few exceptions for special people or groups. If you find an Umiriko advertising they are RPing, asking people to contact them for RPs or a similar, sadly it is unlikely to be me.
Posting artwork I have drawn or commissioned on any site other than the above list is very unlike me.
Lastly promotion and advertisement, I am very unlikely to do any promoting for other places, groups, servers or people unless it is on one of the above websites. I don't go around contacting people at random for things like this so please again treat these sorts of thing with suspicion.
I am also someone who likes to get to know people a little before moving to IMs, so if you were to contact me on one I would be very likely to direct you to Ekas or FA to chat there before going back to the IM account. If I just accept your invite and carry on it might be worth treating it with suspicion.
3) If in any doubt just ask here (^. .^)
I would much rather get 20 messages from people I have genuinely contacted asking for me to confirm it is the real Umi speaking to them, than 1 person be tricked by a fake copycat Umi and mislead. It is lying, dishonest and deceitful and I would very much like it to stop. So if you have any doubts or just want to double check you have found the right Umi, simply message me here and I will be more than happy to confirm for you.

Hope that little spotters guide will help protect you all from any fake copycats out there and their attempts to deceive you.
Again hope you all have a fantastic end to the year and all the best wishes in 2019, lots of big slurps to you all (^. .^)
