"About to"? I dunno. FA is a relic I poke at from time to time, but I've been milling around Facebook and Twitter. There are 3.9 million people who have "furry fandom" listed in their interests over there. Even if you took a few hundred thousand out for duplicates and bots, the potential audience is so much bigger that I don't even know why I care about this place anymore. I know that you meant it's about to go overboard and start purging porn, and were being tongue in cheek, but in terms of being a site that's pushing itself into irrelevance via bad moderation and lack of new features and site updates? It's been doing that for years now, and might actually be there already.

Facebook? That's about the worst place to go to be a furry, especially if you don't want to connect your RL business with your furry side. Twitter is a really shit place as an art board as well. Nothing like having to pick through selfies and pictures of peoples lunches to find the occasional drawing and with no real search capability to find pictures of certain species or subject. Yuck. If those two places are the future of the fandom art posting, we are indeed in big trouble.

Yeah, but it is what it is. Even the people I know who are in the age range where they remember FA as a popular site, don't really engage that much with FA anymore, and I know a lot of my younger friends don't even have accounts here. Those who do, just use it as a repository for adult picture of their OCs. Even as someone who posts here from time to time, I really don't come here more than once a week. Over time, my posts have gotten less and less meaningful commentary, and less and less interest in general, while quality has gone up. So it's either compete with selfies, or be posting to a site where more and more people are investing less and less interest. At least competing with selfies, you're still competing; you can't compete where there's no game. (I'm not saying art's a competition, just, an analogy.)

It's not the first time I got warning, what's funny because to be honest, in my opinion, I don't have any mature content in my gallery (or I don't remember, it can be), but this case is even more funny because this one is 1) three years old, 2) it's in scraps, 3) you can't even see a inch of penis here. It looks like someone REALLY wanted to find something, they can't, so they just closed their eyes and picked it randomly xD

I always wonder when some random minor thing from the past will resurface for no apparent reason.
I know someone could view any entry at any time, but reporting it/making an official warning rather than asking the artist...I'm sure most of them would be reasonable if it was a mistake O.o

And because of that for me it's just lonely, bored person who only wanted to make troubles to someone. But I don't know, maybe it's easier to report someone than write a note to this person. I don't know, I never tried to report anyone's art ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

For me it's not a problem that this drawing have to has mature filter on, it's just funny that someone felt so offended by the tiny hole that they prefer to report it rather than just note me and ask to change this filter xD

Even more mind blowing is when they issue multiple warnings in a short span and then issue a temp ban because of so many warnings on stuff that is years old and has nothing explicit in view... Before the person can even view the first warning.

It's like a cop pulling you over for having a burnt out light and giving you a warning and then following you for a few minutes and pulling you over again and giving another warning before you've even had a chance to arrange getting the bulb fixed.

FA staff is unexplored, sometimes they are super helpful (I just had problems with my email and password and person who talk with me were really kind and helpfull), but in the same time shit like this described by you happens.

Yeahhhh. I had something posted and a year or two later I got bit with a warning out of the blue by one of the FA staff. It was the only reference that I had of a character, and although it was made with one of those animal creator software games I fully sourced the author of the game, the game itself and whatever else I needed in order to give proper credit.

I'm nervous about getting nuked over something else that's just as minor. I seem to remember that your offenses follow you forever on this site, you could get a warning today and get a ban or partial ban 15 years from now.

It's shitty :| Usually I don't ever think about that, I find my gallery as quite safe, but I would need to check all my submissions to not have more surprises like this.

There are people who have nothing better to do than troll around the internet looking for things that aren't 'properly' marked for General / Mature / Adult or whatever ratings. One of the other artists I follow got a warning because he had over-rated some art; that is, he had rated it Mature when it would have qualified for General.

a few years ago an artist I followed had some serius problem when some admin had it in for him, and constantly harassed about this or that rating being too low or too high. then he rated everything mature and got threatened with a ban... eventually delted everything and left.

Pretty much. I also believe if someone wants to rate something too high to err on the side of caution then fine by me. Personally I'd prefer to lock out prudes because they tend to be the ones that cause the problems.
It's also ironic how much in common they have with right wing Puritans when it comes to anything remotely adult invading their safe space and both will play the "think of the children" card.

Normally when I see journals like this, I read what happened, shake my head and move on. But you brought up a point that really stuck with me: Someone getting in trouble for over-rating a piece. Now I understand trouble for under-rating a piece (Course what that equates to is up to everyone's separate interpretation), but is it really that big of a deal if someone puts an adult rating on something that is technically mature? Is that not playing the 'better safe than sorry' card?

The whole point of the crackdown on rated art was to curb the amount of underage people apparently coming to the site or something like that right? Wouldn't you want people to say: Well, this might be mature or it might be adult, I am not sure, I will put it as adult just to be safe! It still covers the sites' ass in the case of an underage viewer combing through the profile.

It's asinine, overkill is still a kill. It still serves the same purpose...Guess some people just have too much time on their hands.

I once had a run-in with some admin who was alarmed because someone else saw nipples (epitome of evil we all gonna die etc), and ruled me to mark every nipple mature at least... even male ones because "they make male boobs look like female ones".

But that said, it's a meme for a while how overzealous FA admins are about this rule. When it's a several years old pic they should just set that damn Mature tag and move on, giving someone a warning for something they probably doN't even remember having is just ridiculous.

And personally I think nudity should entirely be considered just normal and natural - I mean when I was a kid my parents took me to a nudist beach, and nobody was bothered. But then, this is a problem with our entire society, not just FA. FA can't just define its own categories, because they have to follow the law.
