So I'm sure I disappointed some thieves last night.

DeviantArt I was at work, slowly cleaning up the store from inventory, and it was around 5pm (we close at 6pm). I see 5 kids (4-6 people actually, I don't remember the exact number) walk to the back of the store (also know my store is long instead of wide, the back door is at the back of the store, too. My register is in the middle of the store, but to the right side).
The kids look between 11-15, and maybe one of them was an adult?? They were all very short, and one looked older but didn't get a good look at his face.
Anyways, they go to the back of the store rather quickly, and that already seems suspicious to me, so I turn my body and have my face in their general direction, though I'm not looking at them directly.
Also, the back door is open. It's fine though because I had all my personal belongings on me, and the back room is a mess. There's a bunch of garbage back there, pretty much, and the only thing they may want to steal are some cookies and donuts from the night prior. (it would be way easier to simply steal product from the front and leave).
So like 3 of them keep glancing my way, and I SWEAR I heard one of them say "she's looking". So I keep looking in that direction since they are just standing around, kind of looking at things but clearly not anything in particular. Then a different customer asked the price of something, so I turn to her for a moment and say "I can tell you, just one sec" and then I walked to the back of the store, past the kids, and close the door (even though I was curious if they'd actually go in. lol)
I then go back to the front of the store and tell the customer the price of the cards she's looking to buy. Sure enough the 4-6 kids (and maybe one adult, still don't know) walk back past me and out the door.
If they were really trying to get into the back room... lol they failed.
It amused me though.
I've been a lot more careful now since I HAD been stolen from before. I now have a phone wallet, so it's always connected to my phone, and I keep my backpack at the registers with me, put into one of the "cubby" areas. I have chains and things on it, too, that I can hear.
Soooo I wanna believe I disappointed some thieves. lol.

Though since they were kids, I’m not surprised.
