Honestly, they should remove those labeling options in the first place. Just define the type of media, flag if NSFW, and then add tags and description. The extra info boxes are pretty superfluous.

If keeping the Gender box they need to remove "Any," separate "Not Specified/Other" into two options, and make Not Specified the default option for when nothing is chosen. "Any" makes no sense. "Unknown" deserves to be on there before "Any."

Dragoneer made a post about that, and it sounds like they're going to put it back in as an option in addition to intersex. I'm glad that "transgender" isn't going to turn up both TF and actual trans in searches now, so there's some practical benefits to the changes.

I've stopped using it due to its roots, but i've been pondering since last night now how to reconcile the backlash of folks who ID their characters and themselves as herm.

I haven't had good experiences with people who use "herm" to describe themselves irl, like in a really serious context

I've not had it IRL yet, but so far, the people i've seen objecting to it's removal seem very unaware of the history of the term too and i am a bit afraid how some folks react when you shine a light on the history.

So you think we should remove words from the language because some hypersensitive lil baby took offense to it and blew up on the internet about it? What happens when the terms get you banned from websites? Simply calling something a herm would get you banned, would that be ok? Simply because the word was used wrong on rare occasion? Personally, I've never seen the word used wrong except once and I corrected the person on how its supposed to be used and they started using it right. But here, if you use it wrong with some hypersensitive kid, he blows up the internet and demands that person be executed for violating his feelings. Even if it was an accident.

Keep in mind that the roots of the issue are that the term was incorrectly used for intersex people (among others) who do not meet the definition of hermaphrodite. It was also used as a joke and slur in many cases to call anyone who didn't fit the ideal "male" or "female" categories a hermaphrodite, hence why it has some bad history.

And hypersensitive little babies got mad and made a big deal out of it too. Don't put all the blame on the people using the term wrong.

It annoys me that there's so much "equality" in todays age because of hypersensitive little babies complaining that their 1% needs to be force included 50% in everything. God forbid we hire actors based on skill, now we have to hire them only because they are black, or female, or trans, in order to equalize the numbers so that there's an even number of "inclusion" in every movie.

Now its even infected FA, lets hope its just adding some new labels and not making other labels racial slurs and banning everyone who offends a minority person who's hypersensitive.

Just to note, I'm not sexist, racist, or any of the other 'ists'. I believe in equal opportunity. That means, if you're good enough, no matter your color, gender, views, you should have an equal shot at the position. If you aren't, you don't have the right to bitch about not getting the position. What I hate is the new age "equality", which forces equal amounts of everyone into everything even if they have no skill or brain at all. Its ruined movies and caused more hate than necessary.
