Trans (Male), Trans (Female), and Non-Binary
These are all things that I, as well as lots of other peeps, have been asking for from FA, so I'm pleasantly surprised to be actually seeing that change!
Transgender, of course, is not an actual gender. It only accompanies a gender. So it didn't... like... make ANY sense to mark a submission with Transgender. But Transgender has now been split into Trans (Male) and Trans (Female), and even Non-Binary!
Now, there's the whole thing about Herm being replaced with Intersex, since "herm" is a slur word to many people. However, some people have objection to this because herm is an actual legitimate identity to them. It's what they identify as, so to see it just removed is kinda shit, ngl. I'm wondering if the people fighting to replace "herm" knew that some of the users of this site actually identified as herm. If they didn't know and they learned about it, would they have wanted it removed less so that they wouldn't be taking away other people's form identification, or would they just not care because it was bothering them? I'd really hope it was the first one, honestly. I mean, it is good that FurAffinity has removed a slur, but still, it sucks for the people that have actually identified as that.
And to all of this, I'm mostly referring to Charem 's recent journals where they discuss this.
But whether or not the whole Herm v. Intersex thing is an issue, I'm still glad Transgender has been replaced by the other three gender options! It's great to see that sort of change from FurAffinity. Or, really, any positive change from FurAffinity is good to see.
