Twitter is genuinely a terrible platform for posting art. It's designed for discussion, not as a gallery. That said, as an artist you should honestly use every tool available to you for exposure and twitter is good for that so I would suggest you take the plunge!

It's not really designed for discussion... it limits your thoughts to 280 characters. It's designed for networking and adverting.

Create a twitter account, express an unpopular opinion, then be permanently banned. You can always make a Gab account and skip those last steps : P

Since you are an artist, yes I think you should. You gotta network!

With tumblr banning adult content, a lot of artists got pushed onto twitter, many of them only had a tumblr and didn't diversify their galleries, so they're restarting from scratch. If you haven't diversified onto another platform as a backup then maybe you should. I wouldn't use Twitter personally unless you plan on using it for regular announcements of Ych/commissions, streams, and the like. It's not really a viable option as an image gallery IMO.
