Honestly from what I can see, Tumblr is being abandoned and dying, why even keep it? It's not like you'll have as many people watching your blog or anything!

Because it started as my main channel of art, I'm not huge on FA, twitter, etc. In a weird sense, it's like home to me and as an ask blogger, it does have features that are useful such as an easy to reply and draft inbox system, tagging, and archiving. I've looked at alternatives and frankly they're meh and that one nsfw alt, cumblr, is an absolute joke/scam. I'm looking at pillowfort (the best tumblr alt atm) but there's no open registration yet. I am not opposed to moving elsewhere if another site is available and good enough for ask blogging. If I didn't do mostly ask blogging, then I'd leave tumblr in a heartbeat. It's the format, functionality, and userbase I stay for otherwise tumblr can suck a fat one tbh. The moment pillowfort goes out of beta, you bet I'll be tapping that.

I'm very aware tumblr is trash however it's not hurting me to keep it. I started my blogs entirely on a whim not thinking they'd go anywhere and now that I have a foothold, I can't say I'll slump over and let tumblr tread on it. The purge sucked but that's not going to stop me from continuing to create and post content over there, especially when the audience is still large and the app is still (even in a shitty state) functional. A lot of people have told me to just make my own site. However the level of traffic I'd get would be next to minimal. Social sites work because they're just so very social. It's easy to talk to people, network, find other content you like, etc. I wouldn't have traction in the first place if it weren't for more popular people who reblogged my stuff. There's no loss in just starting again to regain visibility other than my own personal time.The way I see it, I already have these blogs, why not just do my best to regain control of them. I've lost followers for sure since a lot of peeps abandoned tumblr but ain't gonna hurt me to gain more if I'm visible again.

Sorry for the lengthy rant lol. I just feel very passionate about my blogs because they're the sole reason I'm able to live off my art. Tumblr's total shit but I will do what I can to preserve what I built, even if it's just my empty blogs. If it all ends up for naught, then that's that and I'll start over somewhere else anyway. I'm definitely going to use other sites but hell if tumblr's dying then why not try. No loss if I don't.

I totally get it, but wouldn't it be better at least for the short term to get a twitter account and a curiouscat one? So you'd get to receive questions and all from people, since tumblr tagging is trash too? I understand how you'd want to keep it though, it's understandable! I hope you'll still have traffic on your tumblr, then!

And I do currently have a twitter and until my blogs get back in order (if tumblr allows me too lmao) I will be making a curiouscat. I'm actually still posting asks on my twitter for the last couple weeks tho I personally don't like it - mostly cuz twitter turns everything into uggo jpegs, there's no organization, and you can't rearrange images. But, it's still usable nonetheless. Curiouscat doesn't really allow nsfw, so that's gonna be used only to collect asks.

Surprisingly, I've actually gained a couple new follows on tumblr here and there and they're actually not porn bots lol. There's still hope!

I will yes. But not all artwork tho, just mainly the better quality stuff. A majority of my asks will remain on tumblr and twitter. And of course in the backups I'll be making :)
