Commission FAQ

I've been getting some questions lately, so I figured I'd address them all in one place.
Yes. The buyer is responsible for shipping. It can start at $3 in the US, and $15 outside the US.
I can't give a good estimate without knowing the size you want. Pieces like cut-out badges, patches, and postage stamps take about three weeks. Larger piece can take several months or more. Poster-sized pieces can take over a year.
First I have to draw the piece, if you want a cartoony base. This can take several days. Sometimes the process to convert an image is a frustrating one, because I have a very limited colours available to me, and further limit each piece to a maximum of 200. This kind of conversion sometimes requires considerable effort to get right. However, this process takes a day at most. After this each piece is hand-stitched, one at a time. A badge with a fully-stitched background contains 8500 stitches.
Your invoice will contain a time estimate in weeks, based off of the dimensions of your piece. These estimates are based off a full queue, and it's very possible I will finish before the estimated date.
If you need something by a certain date, which falls beyond my estimate, let me know BEFORE you pay your invoice. Pieces can be rushed, but please bear in mind that this is still a slow process, and I can only go so much more quickly. If I cannot make your deadline, you will be told. Rushed pieces will take queue priority without compromising deadlines of other projects. There is a 25% rush fee.
Clients who attempt to rush an order after a project has started may have their order cancelled.
I've tried to make sure prices on small items stay low. But these pieces take a long time, and materials are expensive. Sometimes I run discounts or promotions on certain items, so be sure to watch my journal for those.
With a few exceptions, pieces are charged at 1ยข per stitch. I do not charge extra for tent stitch vs full stitches. Although tent stitch takes slightly less time, the materials cost is very similar.
Yes. For any order over $50, I accept payment plans. Please ask about this BEFORE you pay your invoice. Plans are as flexible as you need them to be. You will be asked what you can afford as a down payment and your first invoice will be adjusted accordingly. For roughly each $25, you'll have bought a new completed page. Each time I complete a page, you'll be sent a new invoice.
Stitches come in several shapes. The standard x stitch (full stitch) looks like a perfect square on the fabric. Tent stitch is a half stitch which looks like \. A full stitch has heavier coverage, while tent stitch can sometimes have a sketchy look up close.
For sprites, badges, and pieces with no background, I always do a full stitch. For full-coverage pieces, I tend to use tent stitch as it makes large projects go faster. However I cannot do this on all full-coverage pieces. On 20ct and lower, I still use full stitches, since the material cost sky rockets and it doesn't look as nice as the stitches get bigger.
Tent Stitch vs Full Stitch
In most cases, yes. While I have preferences as to what works and looks better, if you have your own ideas, I can do it your way instead. There may be an extra materials cost in some cases.
No. If a piece is a gift, or you don't want it livestreamed for any reason, I can make a speed paint instead if the piece is small enough. If it is too large for a speed paint, or you do not want it on camera at all, there is a 25% fee. Livestreams and speed paints are how I keep my prices low.
If it's small enough, yes! Small enough is subjected, based on your fabric choices, but generally anything that is going to be larger than about 8-9 inches tall is too big for a speed paint, as it will need to go on a different frame to be worked on.
