Partial Power Outage (Update)
Seeing secondary power surges. They caused the living room TV to fry with a belch of smoke with no warning while it was still off. It also took out the TV Antenna signal booster.
We're waiting for AEP to show up and replace the damaged power line. We've got a 240 line that's only running at 120 right now.
So far AEP is occupied elsewhere, so it may be a couple of days or a week before we see them out here. In the meantime the house is maddeningly silent outside of the occasional use of a portable radio. It drives me crazy, I'm not used to being in such a silent house.
We've had to go to a motel tonight, which is how I am typing this status update. I'll be heading back to the silent and cold house in the morning. I charged what I could, but I'm still going to be twitchy due to the silence of the environment and lack of accessible internet.

Might be worth looking getting a whole-house surge protector installed at your place if you can. It be doable before the line itself is replaced and could help prevent any more damage.

OP
AEP fixed it today. So we'll have to work around that issue when funds are available. We have to bring a guy in to fix the furnace (at least $150 for the alone), get two new TVs, replace about two or three bad outlets, and take a computer (not mine) in for repair. How fun.

Well, some of it should be covered by your insurance. Dosn't make it suck any less though.
