Well with all the stupid drama over cub art, art theft, and users deciding to just quit, I wouldn't be suprised to see a small decrease in FA, especially with the downfall of Tumblr and all those users moving to Twitter and Newgrounds.

FA has even more users than ever, but less comments. I've seen that happening on every gallery site over the last 3-4 years, and it seems to be affecting everyone, so no artist is safe.

My guess is that people are spending even more time on social media sites. I have no clue as to why, but lots of people were shutting down their FA galleries and posting on Tumblr, Twitter, and so on, even though navigation on those sites is terrible. Oh, and the Patreon crap continues, too.

I suspect the same here as well.

The art posting activity seems about the same- about one page worth of submissions in my favorite category each day

My theory is that the site is growing, but long standing members are leaving or becoming less active, so if your watch list/watchers consist of older account, it's more likely that your apparent activity will go down as the older watchers stop accessing the site and older watches stop posting.

It could also be that many people are using other sites like twitter as their primary platform, and are just uploading to sites like FA through apps like postybirb out of obligation to older watchers.

I ger about 250 artz into mysubmissions folder each day. So the place is looking pretty active!

as an artist, i've only seen more activity as my follower count ticks up, but ig when you're doing swell, it's different

Not really, but I'm watching thousands more people than you so I'm biased.

I haven't noticed a significant drop, but I have seen plenty of artists jump ship over the years for various reasons. I think more people might like to leave, but stay simply because this is still the most major furry art site. It probably isn't losing any more members than it gains though. And I'm just not very active because I don't really fit in with the community.

Population churn. The people you may normally interact with might be falling out of your social circles, but the general population is healthy. I know that hundreds of people in my watch list have left for patreon, tumblr, twitter, inkbunny, etc. or the furry world completely, but I also keep adding new artists as I go. Same with Youtube.

It could be weather, or school classes starting or something innocuous.
