Oooh. So much color! Particularly the female.

With designs, less can be more. Maybe less white speckles on her pink and blue areas? Also, the red tipped hair feels out of place. Maybe her blonde hair with one of two white stripes through it? Just a thought. :)

My suggestion would actually be fewer spots, maybe limit them to some clusters at her hips, back, and shoulders.

There was indeed one badger in Watership Down, near the beginning. They call them lendri and talk about how much they stink :D He's only in the book, though, unless he's in the original cartoon and I'm forgetting.

There was a badger character in the children-oriented animated BBC series named Bark. She was actually pretty friendly for a badger - TOO friendly.

She captures an injured Fiver and instead of eating him, decides she's going to nurse him back to health. It's freaky enough to end up prisoner to someone who believes "And Call Him George" is a life philosophy, but when that someone is elil, it's not hard to understand why Fiver's strained almost to the breaking point.

He eventually gets rescued, and Bark ends up helping defend the warren during the Efrafan siege later.

( European badgers are social and live in colonies called 'setts'. Bark was the only survivor of her sett; an illness had swept through and left her the last one alive. She was just plain lonely. )

Ahhh. I haven't seen all of the animated series. Wasn't as big a fan of it just cause I'm a rabid fan of the books and wasn't super interested in new stories made up by someone else, heh.

Bark's one of the few "added characters" that actually makes a kind of sense, considering that in-canon El-ahrairah actually befriended a badger. Her role in the Efrafan siege also made sense - she attacked from one side when the dog attacked from the other, cutting off the Efrafans' escape routes and forcing them underground to surrender.

She's one of the ONLY things out of the animated series I really liked. Bark was the only true elil that wasn't just a force of nature, but an actual tragic villain.

I didn't realize they'd redone the Efrafan siege in the show - that really annoys me that they changed it so drastically. I had been under the impression that the show was what happened after the books ended. I haven't seen it since it was first on TV.

They had to redo it. They had two seasons of Woundwort AFTER the siege fails. He was boring anyway. Campion (as in the books) was the really interesting antagonist, and also the most competent.

They still let it go on a season and a half too long.

That's kind of extra shitty then since it was kind of THE POINT that you didn't know if Woundwort survived the dog or not. 9_9 good job American media, way to ruin everything you touch.

Heh. It was the BBC, not the U.S., that did the animated series. The U.S. did the original animated movie (and still the best representation of the plot in a movie) in the 1970s.

The 1970s animated movie was weird. It was a bunch of British bankers that bankrolled it, and it was a British private company that made it, but they had a consortium with an American film company that also worked at it (and got Zero Mostel in on it).

The Beeb did the entire animated series in-house, though. It's more British than the 1970s movie, but only because of its pedigree.

I absolutely hated the new Watership, had to turn it off after the first episode cause it was making me so angry. Also, their 'rabbits' look more like really fucked up hares. There's so much wrong with that miniseries, ugh. I was expecting it to be MORE true to the book than the original cartoon, but it's drastically less so and has a bunch of pointless stuff added which, in some cases, turns parts of the story into nonsense. UGH I SAY.

That said, I have a bunny! If you would like to draw him you are welcome to. He normally wears faded jean short shorts, a white t-shirt, and a red, white, or red-and-white baseball cap or Castro hat. Or something else along those lines, but pretty much always a hat. Or he's naked - he's shy with no hat on. Have fun!
