No, up until recently absinthe was illegal due to the inclusion of thujone. However, recently they allowed absinthe back in provided that the thujone was below a certain level. Lucid is wormwood grande the stuff that originally produced wormwood. However, the level of thujone is very very low.

Absinthe is much more alcoholic and much thinner than Jager. Plus to properly drink it, you have to have the right kind of glass and slotted spoon (which you can get in a kind of multipack)
