If I have something that's incest it'll get a tag, and that's about it unless I'm putting a little info. Realistically if people don't like it then they "should" Just not say anything about it, but that's more a fantasy mindset then anything, lol.

I guess context really is a choice if you want to give it or not. Honestly go with whatever makes it easier for you in the end.

Exactly, haha. I don't condone it irl what so ever, but in the fantasy setting of characters/sonas I see no harm in it.

The way I see it is put the tag. Of people don't like it then they can avoid it. I have incest twins, and explain there relationship.
I find if you push that its an incestuous relationship people tend react more negatively to that then if it's a simple tag ^.^ xxx

An explanation for context, flavor and a cute story helps sell the scene better, at least to me.
Aside from that, no need to put on any warning paragraphs or anything.

Incest between siblings of similar age is a pretty non-offensive kink, you're safe just putting it in the tags.

I think a tag would be very courteous of you. (- It's like having a rating system on movies and media).

If you're worried, extra steps can only further endear you to those who do worry about that content.

I've also met those who get pissed about tags and are weirdly "happy" about hurting people. Which I don't get.

A simple tag is more than enough I think. The context blurb is fine if you want to add story, but being someone who does not like invest it won't help me be like "oh well never mind this is fine". I'd rather just skip over something that makes me uncomfortable and leave it for the people who do enjoy that sort of stuff.

And that's fine. I try to do the same with the bigger pieces I have. Writing up the scene is half the fun!

In my opinion I don't really think people who are uncomfortable with incestuous scenes or images are going to feel any better about it one way or the other.
Explaining why or how it works out between two characters isn't really going to affect their dislike for it because it still is what it is regardless.
I think a simple tag is sufficient enough because if some people who might be uncomfy with the idea of incest just see an image of two individuals it probably won't be the first thing that comes to mind, ignorance is bliss in that case.
But having the tags there for others who are interested in it is nice because then they'll be able to come across your work when doing a search perhaps.
I also agree with Crytuf that if you're adding actual story on your posts, the context blurb is fine.

Essentially just do what you personally feel the most comfortable with, most of the time if people don't like it they'll just skip over it.

I'm a person who similarly has an incestuous couple that I draw, and no I don't condone it irl either.
But I'm also pretty tight lipped about my characters in general unless people ask me specific questions so I don't even tag mine.
Frankly I'm a person who feels it's no one's damn business what kind of content I draw for my personal OCs. xD
As long as my ratings are marked properly, I could care less about what other people think.

That was actually proven wrong! Someone on DA told me they were very happy I went that route.
They said:
"The warning is helpful to me, I'm not a fan of incest I do want to follow these twos story because I find some of the themes so far interesting and I do know up front that it is incestuous. There was an artist with some twin characters that were together and I was very interested in their world and I didn't realize that these characters were twins and was really put off when I did find that out. Your message helped me not feel so weirded out by it personally but that's just me."

So it may not stop their dislike of incest (which is not my goal!) but if it helps them not feel as uncomfortable, and maybe even help them want to see the characters still, I think that's what is most important! It's because of their response that I do want to keep the warning/notice, though I'll edit it a little bit to be more simple and not mention about trolls. It will just be there to give context!

I mostly meant as an over all opinion, there's always going to be exceptions and nothing is going to make every single person happy.

I do say however that maybe if you feel putting background context is needed, maybe just do it for the specific picture (like how Whitemantis does it) and not put the OCs whole life story on each post?

actually, there's another artist I watch/follow that posts a little snippet explaining their story on every picture under their specific characters, just describing what it is to hopefully catch more interest, so I think I may go that route! That way it's not a "warning", but a "hey, here's what to know about these character's story if you're interested!!"

I think it makes sense to post a blurb if you go with a description/story where it is important. If you just post and image, I'd tend towards either a tag or no fucks given.

it's far more rare I'd post an image without context/story with what's goin on, so may as well do that. XD
