I've been looking at Patreon for a little while and I'm wondering what the consensus is about artists using it to supplement their income, for tip-jars, etc etc.
So is Patreon something I should look into?
How popular is it within the furry fandom?
Do any of my watchers follow artists' Patreons? If so, do you make pledges?
I do already have a Ko-Fi for tips (which I appreciate so much) but with Patreon I could possibly provide "extras."
What do you expect to receive when you pledge to an artist's Patreon?
I don't plan on providing any of my .PSD files (I don't understand why anyone would and my layers are a fucking mess lol).
Maybe award art for tiers? Simple uncolored sketches or something depending on tier? What about higher tiers?
What even should the tiers be in terms of dollars? $1 to $5 to $20 or ?

Also! What streaming sites do you use?
Livestream seems to be a thing of the past and I don't think it allows furry art porn anyways.
Twitch seems to be for streaming games.
Picarto looks to be preferable for streaming art, however.
So what is the popular vote on streaming sites for furry art?
I'm not entirely sure if I can figure out how to stream art efficiently and I have no idea how solid our internet is here, so yeah.

Thank you in advance for any comments and I apologize if I don't respond individually!

..Also as a side note, please don't go on a tirade about how Patreon or whatever is "killing the furry fandom." I find it a bit rude and I'm just looking to gauge how well-liked or not it is, so a simply yes or no will suffice.

Some artists do a "hey let's have a $1 support, $5-$10 get WiPs and stuff, and a $30-50 monthly mini sketch or something" style slots. Do what's most profitable for you - you're talented and should benefit from it!
I'm more of a "traditional" supporter to artists I like when it comes to tips - I'd rather commission an artist directly and show my support by tipping nicely when the final product and the customer relation went smoothly, even more so as a returning customer, instead of relying on Patreon as a middle-man.
Also I'm indifferent about it since I've already seen it get "used" so much by certain artists, that one who doesn't use Patreon to pledge to those artists,
don't have any chance anymore whatsoever to get a commission, which in turn makes me kinda sad since for me it looks as if greed has taken over (which in some cases definitely is the case).
But it's not really my right to judge here, everyone should use or try out the service as they see fit :)
As for streaming sites - I've seen a couple NSFW artists use Picarto, nice layout as a watcher, seems fast and relyable, don't know the handling from the streamers side though.
Twitch as you said is more for gaming or crafting / IRL streams - not sure if NSFW is even allowed there.
Livestream I haven't heard in ages.
So from all those I'd nominate Picarto :)
I'm a sucker for early-access content, but I have absolutely zero interest in watching artists draw, so streams aren't something I'd watch for free, let alone pay for.
Tip jars are okay, but I like incentive to part with my money, if that makes any sense. I like to support artists I like the work of, but I also like to get something out of it, even if that is sketches, WiPs or seeing stuff early.
As far as streaming sites, I think Picarto is pretty nice. Other people above go into more detail about pros and cons but I think it's the best of the options personally.
I'm a full-time Twitch streamer pushing for partner and do artwork there about 50% of the time. It's not just for video games, I held a talk show on the channel last week, have done oil changes and computer repair tutorials live, IRL streamed from a bar, and even broadcats a road trip in the travel section. and there is a wonderful furry community there, and a website called furry.watch that will feature and host you if you are a furry streamer. I can put you in touch with the powers that be if you would like. I'm a bit of an expert on streaming, and have been on the platform over a year at 40+h/week so if you need help setting up OBS (open broadcasting software) or Streamlabs, let me know.
Due to Terms Of Service on Twitch, You can't even show a character in a swimsuit if their "nipples are presenting" or risk a ban if the channel is reported, so if you're going to stream NSFW art, set up Picarto.tv. I'd be glad to explain Twitch TOS to you, but tbh, I do all of my NSFW art on Picarto if I'm going to stream it, and quite frankly, they have a better interface than Twitch which allows a full-access panel with links to all of your social media, and doesn't have restrictions that are as bad for playing music.
Ko-Fi gives you 100% of your donations, and Pateron is more of an exclusive thing for people who are interested in early access content, and you can incentivize your friends and followers (I don't like saying fans). I recently had $1, $2, $5, and $7 tiers and at one point had about 10 patrons, although I have let it slide to set up here and on the other art sites.
If I can be of any assistance, let me know. I'd be glad to help
There is also the other problem that people can only spend so much. Like, everyone has a set limit of money they can spare, whether that's $30 a month or $50 a month, there's a limit. So... you can support a bunch of artists at $1 each, or maybe only 2 or three artists at a higher pledge level; one way or the other, everyone hits their affordable limit. Most people have hit that limit a long, long time ago, OR, like me, got so disgusted with Patreon and what it's done that they left.
My suggestion is to take your funds directly through commissions, YCHs and tips/donations.
