Games as a service is fraud.

What's angers me, depressed me, saddens me, annoyed me and confuse me to no end is that the video game industry is the only media companies in the world that could remove any of there physical media forever where in the books, tv, movie and the music industry you can both download and stream there medium on the any computer but also you can still get there physical medium. They are still making hard cover books with pages, you can still buy CD and some case real vinyl records, you can still buy DVD/ Blu-ray movies but for some ungodly reason the video gaming industry are just saying we don't care about video games as physical media just treat them as fast food items like a cheese burger and just eat them once and it's gone forever.

I remember an article ages ago about games having an "expiration date". Originally it was intended on being 7 - 10 years, but now it seems to be more along the lines of 6 - 8 months
I do share your concern that without any physical media that we lack a sort of permanency to what we own. Steam and any other online service can one day shutter their doors and basically leave everyone high and dry without their games. Which is why I basically support GOG as much as I can and will always try to buy there over Steam since all the games that are on there can be installed offline.
