Geek Squad is pretty useless. You should look into finding a repair shop that can do component level repair.

Yeah, they do seem to be. At least they didn't charge for looking at it. I'll see what I can find, even if my tablet's 100% dead I guess the data's still THERE if I can find a way get to it.

I wouldn't necessarily give up on it. The drive with your data may still be able to be rescued. There are also numerous programs that can salvage data even off a damaged drive. So with a little luck, we can rebuild you.

True, the data's still THERE, I just have no way of getting to it right now. I don't think the drive got damaged, the machine just won't charge or boot up anymore.

Ah yes... I was in the process of backing some things up but it all went boom too fast. By the time I thought, "Oh better do my art files too" it was just too late. I know, I gotta keep on top of that stuff or this happens. x.x

Unfortunately I don't know enough about the Surface to know if it is able to be plugged in directly. Still, if just power, there should be a way to remove the drive. Based on the other reply sounds like you're already exploring that option.

Microsoft is always barking about OneDrive, are you sure it wasn't automatically backing up to the cloud somewhere? If something like that were to break, I'd do what I could to recover the irreplaceable.

Just checked, all that got saved to OneDrive was my Notebook files, but I didn't draw on that program a whole lot. Well, it's something. I'm gonna look into finding someone who can recover my data, it's still THERE, I just can't get to it right now. I hope I don't have to rip it open myself to get to that tasty little hard drive, these things are a pain to take apart. >.< But at least I'm feeling a bit more hopeful about it today. For now I'm looking into getting a new tablet at least, it's probably time I upgraded anyway.
