... I got fired.
Edit: Called in mid workday, told I was being let go due to "performance", no explanation, handed some NDA paperwork and other legal stuff, supervised cleaning out my desk and escorted out.
I am a loss what "performance" was being referred to, I'd not been talked to by a superior since my last employee evaluation last year and that was 3/5's and 4/5's across the board.
I have speculation who made the call, but I'm unsure of the why.

Yeah, at-will sucks when you're the recipient. I've known a lot of people who got it that didn't deserve it, too. Hopefully, your other co-workers were not of the same opinion and you have some good connections.
