Christ no, never ever use paypal for gifts or friend payments. My stupidity and mistake was confirming the payment before 'the piece started' instead, because it was the first time I'd ever seen that option required in an auction.

(In hindsight, I'm kinda surprised it took so long for me to be scammed. I'm surprisingly gullible here.)

I was almost scammed till that guy actually fucked up his own auction. Like it was so back I messaged DJ here to see if it was them, and turns out they almost got me.
My first clue was that they didn't know who I was (I mean Im a nobody, but DJ here is a watcher of mine) and I should have called it sooner then I did lol

my gf was impersonated too and they were selling auctions but the mods didn't do anything even after going in their discord.

Luckily I think that account was just someone who took my main online handle before I could as that is my Deviant art / brand name but it says they have not done any auctions

Guys i was one of the people scammed that brought DJ's attention to it DO NOT BUY FROM ANYONE CLAIMING TO BE HIM outside of FA.

Recommendation: Post that pretty prominently in your profile. Like I always check the FA profiles for artists and it's getting frustrating just how many people take commissions on ych.commishes (or ych art and all these other "Site other than the big three" sites that have popped up over the last few years) and don't cross promote on all their platforms, meaning it's not always clear whether they're the legit article or not - like my reason to believe it was you was both the shared identities (obviously) but also the fact that you've barely got any YCHs in your Scraps, so it's not clear whether you don't take them or have just switched sites over. Also the price range isn't clear on your page either as knowing that the prices were lower than your norm would be another easy red flag to take note of for future unfortunates.

(Also I'm really not sure how you got my email and I'm not sure if I should be concerned about one or more sites because of it XD - not because of you but other people who may have access of course)

I'm currently hoping that the fucker doesn't dispute the paypal disputes so I just get my money back with no fuss in 9 days, but if there's one positive angle to take from this it's that you've probably got half a dozen people thirsty for artwork from the real article in the future when you're feeling comfortable enough in your new place to make it for them.
