Life Update - Restricting Social Activities
6 years ago
A couple of weeks ago I had to get work done on my car, repairing a bumper, fixing brakes that had literally broken, etc.
The repairs weren't cheap and going over my budget I realized I'd done a crap job of paying off my credit cards since I'd gotten my current job. Too many impulse purchases, dining out with friends, etc.
I'm tired of having high interest charges so I resolved to get my debts hella reduced before the end of the year by cutting way back on luxuries.
Which means cancelling my pull list at the comic shop.
Which means no Anthrocon this year. Sucks cause I really wanted to volunteer again.
Which also means cutting back A LOT on furry meets.
While meets themselves aren't expensive, they usually involve visiting a restaurant afterwards. It may not seem like much, but I do have an appetite and those charges do add up. Also bad for my weight loss attempts
Also means no theaters for a while. No movies, no concessions. That shit also adds up.
I haven't seen Avengers: Endgame.
Yes, I could leave my wallet in the car and only bring enough money for a ticket. But, no. Not seeing that film on the big screen is my personal penance for not having kept my spending in check better over the last few years.
Once the film is on BluRay I'm totally downloading it, though.
I will be attending the Maine BBQ, though. I'd already pre-registered and am not going to ask for a refund.
So if it looks like I'm not around as much, it's not that I'm disconnecting from the fandom, I'm just adulting and prioritizing. In 2020 I want tp be spending money on furry stuff, not credit card interest.
