in my opinion, having a female character that represents a matriarchal aspect of your personality can be very fulfilling. a nurturing part of yourself that reflects a desire to care for something as small as a pet even. a timid and soft aspect of self that somehow demands respect that they can or have brought life into the world. i think if i had a say, id recommend building your own rather than adopting, unless you found an adopt that reflected your expectations
