Subtypes
Rhönahrí - The Royals. Both variants have abilities and able to shift between genders also formal two-leg and naga forms.
Divine Variant - The variant of O'rheni royal that is feathered, white sclera and able to walk within the light of their sun. Even though they appear angelic and have wings, their bones hollow and also light bodied. They are the crueler of the two. Enslave those they believe inferior to themselves, even kill them. The Divine hold control of their society and greatly frown upon hybrid offspring outside their species. Even the mixing with other species. This variant views it as "dirtying their bloodlines; weakening it," that any mixed offspring found are killed. Also, culled at birth. They even forbid mix offpsring with their Demonic counterparts.
Demonic Variant - A variant that cannot walk within the light of the sun. They have horns and plated scales along their shoulders and along their hips. Smattering of scales also found along their cheeks leading up into their hairline and along the top ridge of their ears. This variant has black sclera and do not have wings like their Divine counterparts. Heavy bodied and a tougher hide. The Demonic are far kinder and do not agree with the enslaving of their own people or of those outside their species. They find hybrid children beautiful and a sign of coexistence with other species. A strengthening of alliances.
Aberrant - The result of some Demonic variants continuously breeding with demonic beings then their offspring breeding with another Demonic. They are born feral, unable to shift into a naga form, covered in a very thick hide and far stronger plated scales than their parents. Highly aggressive and believed to have no intelligence other than to kill anything in their path. Known to be canniballistic. An aberrant is killed at birth, though if one tries to keep their aberrant offspring hidden - it is an act of treason and punishable by death. No known aberrant is known to exist after the first went berserk and killed. They are far larger compared to the Rhönahrí, the first reaching the height of 6'0 at 18 years before death.
Mündayn - Common; far smaller of the species and also have no abilities. They appear feral with small muzzles, soft hides underneath the small scattering of scales. They have plated scales covering their throats and small spurs on their knuckles. A common is no bigger between 3'0 and 4'9. Also the only subtype to lay eggs; a clutch no larger than 3 to 4 eggs, but usually only 1 to 2 hatch.
Breeding/Growth Rate
- The O'rheni are a long lived species, the oldest recorded age being 1000+ years.
- A female gives live birth and the gestational period is 4 months long.
- A newborn grows quickly for the first six months, reaching a physical appearance of a 2 to 3 year old. Once they reach their fifth year, now appearing as if 9 or 11 years old.
- An O'rheni's growth rate starts to slow down at the age of 20 years.
- For offspring to survive, an O'rheni must stay female for the first six months (four for gestation and the last two for breastfeeding till weaning)
The O'rheni do have an 'in heat' period. Any of them currently female would start to seek out a male and get aggressive with other females if they find a suitable male to give them strong offspring. If a female finds such a male, she will mark him up with her talons and teeth to lay claim to breed with him the next breeding season. Males also seek out females too, just not as aggressively. They would present themselves to a female in a dance and if accepted, a male will sink their talons into the female's hips and lock his teeth into her nape once the act of mating begins. The groin scales of both males and females are velvet soft to the touch, sensitive and do not split open. The male's anatomy slips out when aroused and a female's can be gently spread for a male.
