There is a kind of energy in the universe which remains to be known on our planet. And the civilizations in different parts of the world that achieve interaction with the energy are considered most developed. But each civilization interacts with the energy in its own way.

Let's call this energy "harmonic", cause it’s due to a stability of closed universe system. If nothing disrupts the normal order of things, the harmony generates energy. *We’ll keep in mind entropy, and you’ll hear about it in the story about Guardians.*

Some species have evolved regulatory system to use harmonic energy by their internal fluids and called it "magic". Other species have invented formulas for explaining, created different mechanisms which use harmonic energy, and called it "technology".

One way or another, these civilizations received tremendous opportunities, found points of convergence and began to interact with each other. That was the starting point of the Spectrum era.

The primary instrument of interaction became the World Hearts on each of the planets. World Heart is material "converter" which allows intelligent beings to use harmonic energy on their planet. Hearts also generate a portal - a way to transfer matter from one converter to the other. It’s the gateway of worlds, carefully guarded by the inhabitants of each planet *he-he, from a certain moment*. Every World Heart has its own sanctuary.

The most powerful civilizations have formed an alliance whose main objective is to monitor the development of the backward planets maintaining a policy of non-interference. This ensures preserving stability in the universe, consequently, generation of harmonic energy.

The Alliance created an artificial satellite for an uninhabited planet and founded a capital there - the multinational metropolis called Meridian inhabited with magicians and scientists. This place has become home to Congress of the Alliance, as well as a haven for creatures from controlled planets, and the largest shopping and entertainment point of the universe.

Arena was one of entertainments of the powerful. The best of the best came there to compete in the battle for money or vocation. Well, or for fun. The influence of the Arena has grown so much that even interplanetary conflicts began resolved though matches.
