I get this all the time; go out of my way to add colorful commentary to journals and art work, and 9 out of 10 times will be straight up ignored by the presenter, or will get some sass back from someone who didn't get a reference or a joke. It just makes me not even want to comment on stuff anymore.

Also, it's not only replies, it's also when people think they are tough because they comment smartass comments.
I remember that drama girl who comment on one of your Kitty artworks "You have no respect for the creator." I was like "Girl you have NO idea what you talking about! If he would turn Kitty in a pedophile or anything disgusting like that THAN its NO respect."

It can be difficult. I try to do the same, but unfortunately you can't really hear a tone of voice via text (unless you know the person REALLY well). I do my best on both sides.
