That is usually what I do, but I am actually talking about multiple projects beyond just art :3

i list things on a pad of paper and jot the ideas down so i don't lose them, then i make a priority list

I usually structure everything, organize them all in ranks of importance or urgency to get accomplished first (in your case, the class, then the commission (depending on what it is, how long it may take to do it, and when its due date is), and finally, the rest of your few pictures lined up (assuming that you mean that you haven't done them yet)) while seeing if I could still have any extra time to relax my mind before moving on something else. Sometimes, I get the quickest tasks done first before taking on other tasks that take a lot of time consumption to get my brain active.

It's all about balancing everything out while having a bit of extra time on the side to rest your mind temporarily. :)

Yep. And if you can't physically put them on a stack, then make cards with what's gotta be done, shuffle 'em up, and draw the top card. Get it done, then go to the next. ^_^
