Fur Affinity recently experienced an outage which caused certain queries to become interlocked. When this happened, it resulted in our database becoming unresponsive. To correct this issue, we backed up the database, rebuilt the database, and reimported the data.

To help expedite this process, we removed unread notifications which were older than a year, and will continue to do so from this point on. Notifications are the numbers that appear at the top right of the website (and, when you click them, in the shown list) letting you know when you have new submissions, journals, etc. to review. This decision was made due to the amount of space unread notifications take up in the database.

No content or relevant data has been lost due to this outage.
