The Scrolls of A Thousand Art Techniques.

It's times like this when time doesn't catch up on you more or less to simply prolong the torture it's presented you, that you come to realise that you can use that same torture as an advantage to learn a thing or two from those you call friends, rivals and brothers in arms. I think that while I wait for the rest of my new equipment, (1/2 already here) I'll see what I can do to prepare for its arrival, how I can present a brilliant piece of art to use it on once it finally comes in that big brown, cardboard box full of stirophome peanuts and bubble wrap.
So far, my hopes are that I'll be able to master the following customized styles:
Serious: A mixture of Leonardo Da Vinci Baroque, and oriental focus towards detail (like that of Yoshitaka Amano)...and a bit of Sumi-E.
Not so serious: a cartoony, yet creative manga like art style that involves creating the weird and unique while seeming deceptivly basic.
If you guys have any suggestions on what kinda tutorials I should look up, it'd be greatly appriciated, at this point, I'm just buying random art books from the store with no direction, and thus do I need a good lead and push towards the right road I'm trying to get onto.
